Swami Ram Swarup: Yajyen means Dev pooja, Sangatikarann and Daan.
Yajurveda mantra 1/1 states to perform Yajyen. Yajyen (Yagya) word is made from yaj dhatu which means dev pooja, sangatikaran , daaneshu. Dev means ‘yeh dadaati sah devah’, which means he who gives us something is dev. Mother gives us birth, father nurses us by means of money, food etc., atithi gives us knowledge, acharya gives us knowledge and salvation and God has given us every matter of universe like sun, moon, water, air, earth etc., etc., to live upon. Therefore Taiteryopnishad shiksha valli ekadash anuvak states, ‘devpitrikaryabhyam na pramaditavyam’ i.e. dev and pitri karmas must not be over-sighted due to carelessness/laziness/spending fun. (in these deeds brahmayajya, devyajya, daily hawan, listening of Vedas and services to old persons come.) Further Upnishad says ‘matri devaha bhavaha pitri devaha bhavaha acharya devaha bhavaha atithi devaha bhavaha i.e., mother, father, atithi and Acharya must be considered devi devata and we must serve them. A question has been put forth by Janakacharya Gargi to Rishi Yagyavalkya and others in Brihadarannayakopnishad (chapter 3 shloka 2) that how many Devtas are there. Rishi Yagyavalkya answered that there are thirty-three non-alive Devtas, i.e., 8 vasus, etc., as sighted to you before.
According to philosophy of Vedas there are five alive Devtas, i.e., father, mother, atithi, acharya and Almighty God. We have to give regards to first four to please them and do worship of Almighty God. Non-alive Devtas are eight vasus (agni, vaayu, jal, aakaash, prithivi, nakshtr, chandrma and surya, eleven Rudra (10 prann + alive soul), twelve Aditya i.e., 12 months, vidyut and Prajapati (Yagya). Non-alive are not worshipable. Only one Almighty God who creates, nurses and destroys the universe, is to be worshipped.
I mean to say, when Brahma (learned of four Vedas) sits in a yajyen and aahutis are offered in burning fire with Ved mantras, simultaneously in family life, the most superior pious deeds of serving mother, father, atithi and acharya, service to learned acharya so as to satisfy him and the offering of money, gold, food grains, clothes, land, cows etc., to learned acharya in yajyen based on one’s capability (financial) is called a complete Yajyen.
Person who follows the Vedic knowledge under the guidance of learned acharya will become enlightened because in Yajyen, Brahma or learned acharya will preach the meaning and idea of each Vedic mantra in which the aspirant will also learn and follow hard-practice of Ashtang Yog philosophy. As a result, he would attain Samadhi i.e., realization of Almighty God, i.e., enlightenment. There is no other way, please.
Beyond Vedas, there is no eternal and everlasting true knowledge. Meaning of Ved is itself knowledge. Truth changes the person who in absence of truth (Vedas) gets indulged in illusion. Otherwsie, truth itself is unchangeable, unchallengeable. Meaning of Truth is-
What is truth?
Truth was in the past, is at present and will ever remain in future unchanged. God is also truth. So God is unchangeable. This law is ever maintained by Vedas right from beginning till end. In the Vedas there is no misunderstanding about any matter. That is why Rishi Patanjali in his yoga shastra sutra 1/7 states that Vedas are our self-proof i.e., whatever there is in Vedas that all is true and in any holy book or any statement of any saint etc. The statement if is according to Vedas then that one is true and which is against the Vedas that all is false.
SHRAT= truth, DHA= to hold. So shraddha means to hold the truth within an aspirant. Truth is God and the knowledge of Vedas emanates direct from God in the shape of four Vedas. So to listen, observe, hold and follow the path of Vedas means aspirant is following true path and he is shraddhawan. Tribute is worldly custom whereas shraddha is spiritualism.
Mere reciting of Ved mantras will not transform humanity. We have to listen, understand and thereafter follow knowledge, deeds or worship mentioned in Ved mantras. Person can never be desireless. Desires are only controlled to some extent but pious desires based on Vedic culture are not required to be controlled. For example- To do Yajyen, service to parents, old persons etc., etc.
Rishabh: Swamiji how can I improve body by bramhcharya? How to follow bhramcharya and how to ignore the things like attraction to opposite gender?
Swami Ram Swarup: Brahamcharya is maintained by an aspirant with firm decision. He who maintains brahamcharya and does exercise both times, takes nutritive food, he sure improves body. Bramcharya matter is a lengthy one. So, to know its details, I would advise you to read my book” Brahcharya Dukh Nivarak Divya Manni”(in hindi) worth Rs.100/- excluding postal charges. The book can be sent to you on receipt of your postal address, if you desire.
Virendra: Pranam swamiji! Swami agr koi saga bhai behan na ho aur pehle unhone rakhi bndhwa chuki ho(1bar) aur unke bich prem ho gya h aur ab ve ek dusre k bina reh ni skte ho to kya ye possible h ki unki shadi kisi badha k ho ske?
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you.
Agar rakhi bandhwane ke baad prem ho gaya hai to weh bhi utna hee paap hai. Insaan ko apne vachanon par kayam rehna chahiye tabhi dharam nibhaya jaata hai nahin to adharmi kehlata hai. mann mein jhoot hona, munha(mouth) se jhoot bolna aur hath pair itiyadi se jhooty karma karna maha paap hai.
