Swami Ram Swarup: Jaisa Rigved mantra 10/121/10 mein kaha ki dhan aur sukh aadi ka data kewal ek nirakar sarvavyapak parmeshwar hai. Weh is srishti ko rachkar iska paalan, poshan karta hai. Atah hum sabhi ko isee ek nirakar Parmeshwar kee Yajyen aadi dwara pooja karnee chahiye. Iske liye aap kisi nazdeek ke Arya samaj mandir se nitya Yajyen karne kee vidhi jaan lein. Isee mein aapka kalyann hai.

Bhavesh: How to perform small havan say about 20 minutes daily at home. Can You help me with the vidhi and what mantras to say?
Swami Ram Swarup: In this regard, I would advise you to study my book “Yajyen karma – Sarvashreshtha Ishwar pooja” (in Hindi), wherein the process of performing the Yajyen has been given. Secondly, Cd explaining the said process are also available here. Price of book is Rs. 65/- and Cd is 40/- (excluding postal charges).

I also paste one of my answers in this regard—–

HOW TO DO HAVAN

Please sit in the morning to perform havan. Havan must be in sunlight then it is more beneficial. Then half a bowl of fresh water with a tablespoon must be with you with small twigs especially of mango tree if possible, havan samagri, ghee, camphor and match box must be there with you. Please sit on sukh asan on four times folded blanket and blanket must be on mat.

Sukh asan i.e., sit on duly folded feet in comfortable position. Then first close your eyes and concentrate between two eyebrows and chant Gayatri mantra three times within heart and not by mouth. Then open your eyes.

Take one spoon of water in right palm. Chant this mantra, OM AMRITO UPASTRANMASI SWAHA and drink the water which you have put in your palm. Then again take the spoon of water in right palm then chant the next mantra, OM AMRITA APIDHANMASI SWAHA, and drink the water. Then again take the water in right palm and chant the mantra, OM SATYAM YASHAH SHRI MAYI SHRI SHRAYTAAM SWAHA, and drink the water. Then wash the right palm while sitting, with the same water kept in bowl.

Then put the twigs into havan kund with one piece of camphor and burn it. During this process chant the Gayatri mantra again and again till such time the fire is lighted sufficiently. Then chant the Gayatri mantra and at the last add the word Swaha and offer ghee with tablespoon, quantity equivalent to 4 to 5 drops. And if you are alone then also offer in fire pinch of havan samagri from your right hand’s finger and thumb avoiding forefinger. So this offering may be of 11 times, 21 times or 51 times as the time suits. It is the simplest way and I have not quoted the complete method of Yajna. The havan with Ved mantras are always offered as the best worship of God only please. Do havan daily and both times.
In the end of hawan, please pray to God to fulfill your desires. I hope God will sure listen to you.

Swami Ram Swarup: Mera aapko ashirwad.
(1) Vedon mein koi itihaas nahi hai isliye vedon mein koi ghatna ya kisi ka naam aadi ka varnnan nahi hai. ‘Vid’ dhatu se ved shabda banta hai jiska arth hai gyaan. Vedon mein tinke se lekar brahm tak ka gyaan diya gaya hai. Aapki jaankari ke liye main apna article paste karta hoon.

Vedas’ Philosophy

God has made universe and blessed us with human body to do pious deeds to attain salvation only. He has not made any heaven or hell. All have to face the result of their deeds, good or bad here only, even by taking rebirth. (Rigved mantras 10/135/1,2 refer)

God has not only made universe but has also given knowledge of four Vedas where answers to your and everyone’s questions have been given. There are four Vedas:

1. Rig Veda – gives knowledge of science, matter of the universe like sun, moon, air, body etc., etc.

2. Yajurved – gives knowledge of all the deeds and duties to be performed by men, women, students, leaders, king, agriculturist etc., etc., etc.

3. Samved – gives knowledge how to worship God who gives peace and long happy life etc. In this way, details of Yoga philosophy, qualities, supreme deeds and nature of the God are also given.

4. Atharvaved – gives details of God, medical science and details of medicine etc.

Actually in four Vedas there is unlimited knowledge. Yajurved mantra 40/8 says that God is everywhere, is Almighty, formless, devoid of nervous system, purest, away from sins and does not have to face any result of any karmas (deeds), knows every soul, knows what is in everyone’s mind, no body has made God, but God creates universe, has given the eternal knowledge of four Vedas and always gives the said knowledge at the beginning of every universe to know the science and deeds to all concern. Similarly four Vedas say about God that God is an omnipresent, omniscient, formless, beyond imagination and beyond calculation. Actually God has unlimited qualities. There is only one God who creates, nurses, destroys the universe and recreates. Atharvaved mantra 4/1/1 also says that God gives the knowledge of Vedas at the beginning of the earth to four Rishis of non-sexual creation. And thereafter only public listens Vedas through Rishis- Munis as yet and become learned. Rig-Veda gives knowledge of Almighty, Yajurved gives knowledge of karmas (deeds), Samved tells about worship-Yoga philosophy and Atharvaved about medicines and God. Actually all Vedas commonly says about God also, so this is about Vedas in short. But the knowledge of Vedas is endless.

It is a fundamental law that knowledge is always given by somebody. Otherwise knowledge can’t be gained at any cost. If a new born baby is nursed well in a dense jungle and is not educated then he will not be able to gain any knowledge even if he becomes young or old. So we have to think about the origin of the knowledge prevalent in the world today. In this connection the Vedas themselves say that God gives this knowledge to four Rishis. As said by Rishi Patanjali in Yog shastra sutra 1/26, God is the first Guru of the four Rishis. Yajurved mantra 31/7 also refers. This is all in short about Vedas.

The Vedas are not a book, rather it is a knowledge originated in the heart of Rishis. At the time of beginning of the earth those Rishis preached Vedas by mouth and all others remembered the same orally. At that time there was no pen, pencil, paper, etc. This process of studying Vedas orally remained till Mahabharata time. Muni Vyas too remembered Vedas traditionally by heart. Then Muni Vyas for the first time wrote the Vedas on Bhoj patra about 5300 years ago. In 16th century when printing press came into existence then the Vedas were printed. Still Vedas are not those which have been printed but those which are preached by mouth by an Acharya/yogi and the printed Vedas are called Sanhita.

Now if somebody worships a statue etc., then it is their own creation please but Vedas deny. According to Vedas the best worship of the God is Yajyen for which all Vedas are self-proof. Yajurved mantra 31/16 says that the learned persons worship God by Yajyen.

So many people have asked me that most of the scholars/preachers of different religion state that their religion incorporates all matters of the world including science. What about Vedas? I wrote so many Ved Mantras describing science matters therein. For example, Yajurved Mantra 3/6 states

“Ayam Gauhu Swaha Pitram Puraha Prayan Mataram Prishnihi
Aakrameet Asadat”.

Meaning:
This earth revolves around the Sun in the space and it also rotates on its own axis. Vedas are eternal like God because Vedas emanate from God. Now, according to Vedas, this present creation is about 1 Arab, 96 crores, 8 lakh 53,111 years old. So are theVedas but as said in Rigved Mantra 10/191/3 the present creation is same as was the previous one and this process of creation is eternal. So are the Vedas which emanate from eternal God. This all concludes that Vedas are the oldest in this creation also and no other book of science, maths or pertaining to spiritualism is written before Vedas.

Like the above example of rotation and revolution of earth, the significance of whole present science is mentioned in Vedas. We can see that whatever is happening in the universe, is all according to the Vedas. For example, occurrence of six seasons, actions of Sun, moon, process of death, birth, worship, yoga philosophy, atomic energy, agriculture, animal husbandry, knowledge of politics, administration, architecture, solar energy, knowledge of home appliances like mixer, grinder, business rules, about men, women, children, marriage, Brahmacharya, education, clothes etc., etc., i.e., knowledge right from a straw to Brahma is all in Vedas. God is Almighty and has unlimited powers. So through His power He is able to originate the knowledge of Vedas in the heart of four Rishis without pencil, paper, help of mouth or any other worldly assistance.

We, i.e., the whole world depends on Almighty God but God is forever independent. That is why, He is God. We are the souls who reside in human bodies. We need assistance of senses, perceptions, mind and body to do deeds but not God.

Nowadays, so many saints are writing books. What is the background to write their books? Background is clear that they have first studied or listened the preach from their Gurus, keeping aside the matter of truth or falsehood. And after studying or listening the same, they became able to write the books. So this is also fundamental law, based on which, the ancient Rishis first listened Vedas and when they became learned then only they wrote the Vedic books like Valmiki Ramayana, six shastras, Mahabharat (Bhagwad Geeta), Upanishads, etc., etc. So, first the knowledge of Vedas is initiated in the universe and afterwards other books come into existence.

Somebody may say that human beings have knowledge by their nature to create anything like books etc., but we see that the newly born baby who is nursed in a jungle, in the absence of knowledge of a learned person, he becomes incapable to do anything. Thus, he can’t be M.A, M.Sc, doctor etc. So there are two types of the words and meanings. First, eternal which are from Almighty God and second, natural made by human beings. Eternal word meanings are always from Vedas i.e., from God. After listening/studying Vedas, human beings become learned and then too based on their own natural knowledge, they make their own words and meanings, literature etc. But it is very much clear that in the absence of knowledge of Vedas, no one can become learned. Nowadays, also people live in dense jungle and do not lead a civilized life because they are not learned as cited above. Vedas are not sects because they emanate direct from God and God is one for all human beings. God creates sun, moon, air, water, food etc., which are meant for the best use of all human beings for their long, happy life, so are the Vedas.

So all human beings must accept Vedas as an eternal knowledge from God, for the benefit of whole creation.

(2) Nahin Sri Ram, Sri krishan Ishwar nahin the. Vedon mein Avtarwad nahin hai. Ishwar kewal ek tha, ek hai aur ek hee rahega. Ishwar badalta nahin hai. Problem yeh hai ki aaj hum Ishwareeya gyan jo vedon mein hai, us gyan ko sunkar Ishwar ko nahin jaante aur Ishwar ko nirdharit nahin karte. Manushyon ke banaye hue tarah-tarah ke Parmeshwar kee aaj hum pooja karte hain jo manushya ke liye labhkari nahin hai. Is vishya mein main apne kuchh articles paste kar raha hoon:-

Avtar
God is only one who creates the universe and no other can create the universe except God. Please think deeply is any one except God empowered for creation, etc.? The pious qualities of God are unlimited whereas qualities of soul, which resides in human body, are limited. That is why He is God. This fact is also mentioned by Rishi Patanjali in his Yog shastra sutra 1/24, “KALEASHKARAMVIPAKASHYAIHI APRAMRISHTAHA PURUSHVISHESHAHA ISHWARAHA” i.e., He who is not indulged in any sorrows/sufferings (kalesh), in any kind of deed (karma) and result thereof (vipakya), He is supreme in souls and is called Ishwar (God), whereas, soul is indulged in all the said matters according to deeds done in previous, and in the present life. So this is also a difference between God and souls and therefore soul can never be God based on the different qualities.

Amongst unlimited qualities of God, few may be enumerated-that God creates, nurses and destroys the universe. God is omnipresent, omniscient and omnipotent and Almighty, beyond description, beyond imagination, and beyond calculation. Nobody on the earth can deny such qualities, but these qualities are to be discussed and considered deeply and he who does the same is called MUNI as per Vedas and shastras.

Let us think over one quality of God – Being Almighty. Almighty means God has all powers and thus God, to control the universe and to do any kind of deed for the same, can not be dependent on another, at any cost, being Almighty. Again shastras say, which is a true saying too, that there must be reason behind for any creation, matter etc. God is a reason to create the universe. Parents are the reason to give birth to a child. Ravana took Sita forcefully which became a reason for war between Shri Ram and Ravana etc. So as per Vedas there must be a reason of avtar and after studying eternal knowledge of Vedas and thinking deeply, there seems no reason to take avtar by Almighty God. As in Yajurveda mantra 2/26, so is in Shwetashwataropnishad shlok 6/8 wherein it is mentioned that there is no reason to form a God and thus God is also formless i.e., nobody can make God but God creates universe from non-alive prakriti. Secondly the said Upnishad says that the deeds of God of creation, nursing, and destruction of universe are eternal, natural, and automatic. So naturally God needs no avtar to destroy Kalyug, earth, or devils etc., being Almighty i.e., God has all powers and is independent. Not God but only His powers are enough to control, create, nurse, destroy the universe. That is why Upnishad says that God has no desire to create etc., but it is eternal and natural and this sort of desire is named “IKSHAN” and not desire to create etc.

Suppose God has to kill a devil and He takes avtar and God kills the devils by arrow etc. It means God is not Almighty and independent because God has taken help of Avtar (Human body) and arrow, gun, etc., which is impossible.

This all I have told based on fundamental law of eternal knowledge of four Vedas. Yet if anybody says about avtar then it is their own views and they are satisfied with their views and can not be commented because they could have been realizing at their own but so far as eternal knowledge of Vedas is concerned, Avtar is not possible.

God is formless

Being formless there is no need of statue or temple of God according to Vedas. As a matter of fact, you, I or every human being, lives in a body. Body is separate, we are called souls. Vedas say soul has no form even. Then also we know each other. For example even if you have not seen the photograph of King Akbar then, you can know Akbar by means of the study of his qualities. So is the case with the God. If an aspirant really goes to his Guru and listens Vedas like Shri Ram, and ancient kings and their public then he will be able to know hundred percent about formless God. Then comes realization for which Vedas (especially Samveda) says that he who performs Yajyen, does jaap (according to Vedas) and practises Ashtang Yoga Philosophy while remaining in family like Shri Ram etc., he sure realizes ,being eternal law.

If we will meditate concentrating outside our body which is also against Vedas/Ashtang Yoga Philosophy, then our attention will always naturally remain outside i.e., attached with outer world i.e., decoration/music/dances etc. In that case subject matter of God will be over. It will be converted into spending fun, doing dances and singing attractive songs by ladies and gents, which is totally against Vedas. Thus the chapter of praising God, True Acharya, Rishi-Munis, performing Yajyen, practice of Ashtang Yoga, eternal knowledge of Vedas etc., will be over.

It is also baseless to say that study of Vedas and practice of yoga philosophy is difficult. It is self made story because Vedas are also called Shruti i.e., Vedas are to be listened first and not to be studied. So to listen to the Vedas, a learned Acharya is needed. The Acharya will explain the Ved mantras in the Yajyen in your own language i.e., in English or Urdu etc., and for an aspirant to do asan, pranayaam, meditation etc., is also not difficult. It is all difficult for those human beings, including present false prophets, (who are against the Vedas), who are lazy, can’t awake early in the morning to listen Vedas and fail to do practice of yoga philosophy. Those people are always after money, materialistic articles and pomp and show etc.

Vedas are not written or spoken by God. This knowledge is emanated from God and is originated in the heart of four Rishis as stated above. God is Almighty i.e., He has all powers. So He needs no assistance to do deeds of universe. In human body alive soul resides and soul is dependent, soul requires mouth to speak, eye to see, hand to write etc., etc. but not God. From His power God originates the knowledge of Vedas in the rishis without writing, or speaking etc. Vedas’ knowledge is divine. The fundamental of the Vedas is this that it was not written or spoken. The knowledge by the power of God was originated about one Arab 96 crore, 8 lakh and 53,111 years ago. Then first time the four rishis of nonsexual creation started pronunciation of the mantras by the power of God. God wanted them to know word meanings and sense of the mantras and therefore the rishis knew all. Then first time the four rishis started pronunciation of the mantras. They taught the mantras to other ignorant people. Then more rishis were produced who knew the Vedas by heart by listening only. There was no paper, ink or pen there. The Vedas were being learnt orally and traditionally this process is yet in force. But mostly not by heart but taking help of the printed book. So printed books are not called Vedas but these are called samhita.

Samhita means the collection of Ved mantras. Therefore Present printed books cannot be considered as Vedas and will never be in future, but samhita. Kapil Muni throws light on this point in his Sankhya Shastra sutra 5/48 that when a rishi does tapsya in the shape of Yajyen, study of Vedas, practice of Ashtang Yoga then the Ved mantras still (now also) originate in heart of the Rishi and the rishi pronounces the mantras. Those mantras are called Vedas, which emanate from God. So Vedas must first be listened (study) from alive Acharya (Guru who knows Vedas). Then only Samhita (books of Vedas) can help.

Are Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh Gods?

Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh are not God. Vedas tell that there is only one formless God who never takes birth. He creates, nurses and destroys the universe. His power is enough to create and control the whole universe. He is Almighty i.e., He has all unlimited powers and therefore He does not need any assistance to create, nurse and destroy the universe by Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh. If God needs assistance then He will not be called Almighty. So God does not need any support but we all humans as well as all living beings need His support and blessings everytime. However, in Vedas, there are innumerable names of Almighty God according to His divine qualities. So Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh etc., are also the names of the formless Almighty God. Brahma means the greatest. Vishnu means omnipresent and Mahesh means the greatest.

Why does Krishna says in Geeta to worship him?

9/11 Geeta shloka (MOODAHA) ignorant people (MAAM) me (MANUSHEEM) man’s (TANUM) body (AASHRITAM) holding (MUM) my (PARAM) the best/supreme (BHAVUM) natural /divine thoughts/feelings (AJAANANT) not knowing(MAAM) me (AVJAANANTI) ignore which is (BHOOTMAHESHWARAM) the best amongst all the living beings.

Idea: It is a well known fact that Shri Krishna Maharaja took birth from respected mother Devkee, his father was Vasudev jee. Vedas emanate direct from formless omnipresent God and all Vedas tell that God is “AJ EK PAAD” i.e., God does not take birth, he is immortal and unchangeable. So, Shri Krishna Maharaj can’t be considered as God. However, Shri Krishna Maharaj was adorable Yogeshwar and Almighty God manifested within him. So he was equivalent to God but not God.

So, in a stage of divine merriment, generally Yogi starts telling himself as God, i.e., equivalent to God. Here the idea of Shri Krishna Maharaj is that when Shri Krishna Maharaj was in his body (alive), at that time the ignorant people who did not agree with the eternal and divine Vedic views of Shri Krishna Maharaj; for those ignorants Shri Krishna Maharaj states in this shloka that Oh Arjun! Such ignorant people are not aware of my eternal, Vedic views, so they ignore me because I am in a human-body. So they treat me as an ordinary man. Here it is to be noted that Shri Krishna Maharaj was not an ordinary man. He was supreme Yogeshwar. Yet, people have faith in Shri Krishna Maharaj to worship him as God, it is their own belief.

As per Vedas, avtar is not possible please. To determine every truth, the main proofs are Vedas, which are called self-proof. Vedas state that after getting the knowledge from a learned Acharya, when an aspirant performs Yajyen, does pious deeds, discharges his moral duties faithfully, while doing the same he does practice of Ashtang yoga, he thus attains Asamprgyat samadhi. At this stage of Samadhi, Almighty God becomes present within him. Samved mantra 944 states that at the stage of the Asamprgyat samadhi within the yogi, the preach of Vedas which flows from the mouth of Yogi is inspired by God Himself. So the Yogi at this stage can say, “I am Ganesh, I am Shiva, I have created universe and all must worship me etc., etc.” because at this stage the words uttered by the yogi are inspired by God Himself and the words are directed from God.

Secondly, the souls who had got salvation may come back and take birth to guide the people. And after doing his job the soul goes back at his own to realize salvation. This is as per Atharvaveda mantra 9/10/11. So within the soul of Shri Krishna Maharaj actually the words of God were uttered which are true. However, one must know that Yajurveda mantra 32/1 too says that there is only one formless God, who creates, nurses and destroys the universe. But His names are several according to His qualities.

(3) Vedon mein traitwad ka varnnan hai. Arthat Ishwar, jeev aur prakriti teenon alag-alag gunn wale tatva hain

Three eternal and everlasting matters:-

Several persons explain its meaning that there is only on God and nothing else i.e., except God there is nothing. They tell that there is neither prakriti nor soul and not even the creation which is being seen. Learned of Vedas do not accept it.

Eternal knowledge of Vedas which emanates direct from God only preaches “Traitvad”. In Traitwad, there exist three matters:

(1) God(Ishwar)
(2) Souls( Jeev)
(3) Prakriti(Prakriti)

God and souls are alive whereas Prakriti is non-alive matter.

From Prakriti, all the matters of universe are created. But neither from God nor soul any matter is created. Soul can never be God being unchangeable and God can also never be soul being unchangeable. Soul due to the attraction towards prakriti is indulged in illusion and forgets his original form of immortal peace, purity etc. and has to face the birth and death again and again.

But Almighty being the commander of the souls and prakriti, is never attracted towards prakriti. He always remains purified. So, God cannot forget his original form and is never indulged in any kind of illusion. Therefore, everything like tree, tube light, stone, electric fan are made of prakriti and hence can never be God.

So, the meaning of Eko Brahma Dweetya na Asti will be, there is only one God equivalent to whom no other God exists. Besides this, Yajurveda mantra 27/36 states-‘Na Jataha Na janishyate’ i.e., there is only one Formless, Almighty, immortal God and equivalent to this, neither any other God was born, nor shall be born.

Vaibhav: Namaste Swami ji.. I would like to ask what do you think about Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati, his book Satyarth Prakash and his Ved bhashya? Are they authentic and worth following?
Swami Ram Swarup: Namasteji. Rishi Dayanand Saraswati ji has been a renounced figure. He was tapasvi, learned of Vedas and Yoga philosophy. Based on his knowledge of Vedas, his all books are authentic. He was the only great dignitary, who turned the people towards Vedas and did several social, pious deeds.

Swami Ram Swarup: Namasteji. Rigved mein kaha hai ki jeev ko karmanusar asankhya yoniyon mein janam lena padta hai. Manushya se alag pashu, pakshi, keet, patang kee jo bhi yoniyan hain, weh sub bhog yoni hai aur sadaa dukhdayee hai.

Bhaav yeh hai ki dinosaur bhi manushya se neeche ek yoni kahi jaayegee. Isliye jeevatma ko is yoni mein bhi bhej kar uske karmon ka phal dena hee Parmeshwar ka prayojan hai. Aur doosra yeh hai ki srishti rachna ka kram anadi hai aur usee kram se yoniyon ke shareer rachey jaate hain.

Dr Srivastava: Swamiji Namaste We have all your books in our Toronto Arya Samaj except the following. Would you please send them on the above mentioned address. They will send them to us. Thank you Dr Srivastava – president
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you, my son. Books are being sent to you, please.

Somya: Pandit ji kya gaur vashishtha aur vashishtha gotra ke couples me shadi ho sakti hai kya?
Swami Ram Swarup: Kyunki gotra alag-alag hain isliye shaadi ho sakti hai. Phir bhi aap local pandit se salah avashya lein.

Deepali: Jai Satchidanand Swamiji, I am engineering student and I regularly read Vedas. due to some study problems I went to Arya Samaj purohit. He adviced me to donate some money to you after reading manu smriti. May I know the process how I can give you money?
Swami Ram Swarup: Jai Satchidanand. I appreciate your views to study eternal knowledge of Vedas which emanates directly from God. Beti, jis bhi purohitji nein tumhein daan dene ke liye achchhee advise kee hai, usko main dhanyawad deta hoon aur tumhein bhi ashirwad deta hoon. Parantu mera shuru se ek niyam hai ki main students aur widows se daan nahin leta apitu deta hoon. Baki, mera ashirwad hai ki tumharee padai theek chalne lagegee. Aap rozana mehnat karein. You are advised to do the followings:-

Shubh Karma

Hard working, devotion, dedication, honesty, services to the parents and elders to follow eternal religion mentioned in Vedas, practice of Ashtang Yoga, discharging moral duties to get progress in education, science simultaneously with spiritualism like, daily havan, to be in contact with the learned Acharya, to get his advice, are some of the pious deeds which make the future bright and obliterate the sorrows, problems, diseases, etc.

One must wake up early in the morning for early morning walk and exercises, must sit on meditation and chant holy name of God, must be away from any addiction and non-vegetarian. Such pious actions lead to long, happy life and bright future.

GAYATRI MANTRA

The Gayatri mantra is as follows —
OM BHURBHUVAHA SWAHA TATA SAVITUR VARENYAM BHARGODEVASYA
DHIMAHI DHIYO YO NAHA PRACHODYAT

Meaning of Gayatri mantra stating each word is as follows. Its meaning is based on
Vedas and Sanskrit grammar. Grammatical hints are in short please.

Om has three Hindi words. Aa, Uu AND Ma. Aa is meant for Aakaar from which three
names of God are built, Viraat, Agni, and Vishwadi. From Uu = uukar from which
Hirannyagarbha, Vayu and Tejas names occur and Ma = makaar from which Ishwar,
Aditya and Praajyan aadi, holy names of God occur. Rigveda mantra 1/164/46 says
God is one but His names are several. But here OM the holy name of God is only being explained.

VIRAAT = Viraat word is made from dhatu ‘Rajrideeptau’ i.e., manifest. Therefore Viraat means He who manifests the universe. As God manifests the universe, thus
Viraat is the name of God. Rigveda mandal 10, sukta 129 states that like potter makes pot from clay, similarly God creates universe from non-alive matter prakriti.

Prakriti is unseen matter. From unseen matter, the whole universe is created in the visible form. Science also says that matter is never destroyed but changes its form.

Suppose a paper is burnt, paper changes its form into ashes. Then ashes are crushed and thrown in air. At this moment, the paper changed into ashes becomes invisible but was never destroyed. Similarly the whole universe at the time of final destruction is turned into prakriti i.e., into unseen form.

AGNI = From dhatu, “ANCHU GATI POOJANAYOHO” the word “AGNI is made. Its meaning is: He who is a form of wisdom. “SARVAJAYEN” i.e., Omniscient. That is, knows each and every atom of universe and even beyond universe. He who is to be known, to be gained and is worshipful. So Agni is the name of God.

VISHWA = Vishwa word is made from dhatu, “VISHPRAVESHANE”. Its meaning is He
in whom the universe is entering or He who is entering the universe. So being
omnipresent, Vishwa is the name of God.

HIRANNYAGARBHA = i.e., ” JYOTIRVAYIHIRANYAM”. Its meaning is, who is the base
of all sun, etc., luminous lokas or He who is the living place of all luminous lokas.

VAYU = from dhatu, “VA GATIGANDHANYOHO”, vayu word is made. Its meaning is
He who holds, gives life and destroys and is the mightiest amongst all. So the name
of God is Vayu.

TEJ = from dhatu, “TIJA NISHANE”, the word Tej is made meaning He who is self
made and self-enlightened and gives light to sun, moon, stars etc. God does not take
light from anywhere but gives light to sun, moon, stars, etc. so the unbroken,
unobstructed/unproduced and eternal form of light is Almighty God and not sun,
moon etc. So the name of God is Tej.

ISHWAR = from dhatu, “ISH ASHWERIYE”, the word Ishwar is made. Its meaning is
whose knowledge is thoughtful and true and He who has unlimited wealth, fortune
and glory etc. Therefore the name of God is Ishwar. Here it is not out of place to
mention that soul (man/woman) has limited qualities and are dependent whereas
God is independent and has unlimited qualities that is why He is God.

ADITYA = from dhatu, “DO AVAKHANDANE”, Aditya word is made. Its meaning is the one who cannot be broken into pieces and thus cannot be destroyed. So God’s name
is Aditya.

PRAJAYEN (PRAGYA) = from dhatu, “JYEN AVABODHANE”, Prajayen word is made meaning whose wisdom is totally without any misunderstanding and thus he who
knows every matter and behavior of whole universe without misunderstanding. So
God’s name is Prajayen. So here also it is not out of place to mention that illusion
can never attack on God and God is totally free from illusion.

BHUHU = “BHUHU ITI VAYEE PRANAHA” i.e., He who is the base of lives of universe,
is most beloved, even more than Prann i.e., breath. So Bhuhu is the name of God.

BHUVAHA= “BHUVAHA ITI APANAHA” i.e., He who is totally free from any sorrow,
and the soul removes his own all sorrows after coming in contact with Him. So the
name of God is Bhuvaha.

SWAHA = i.e., “SWAHA ITI VYANAHE” who is omnipresent in the universe and is
holding the same. So the name of God is Swaha.

SAVITUHU = He who creates the universe. So the name of God is Savituhu.

DEVSYA= who gives all pleasure/merriment, so the name of God is Dev.

VARENNYAM = He who is the most supreme and acceptable. God is most supreme
and acceptable for worship.

BHARGAHA = the purest entity (though God is formless, but finding no suitable
English word of Sanskrit word, “SHUDH SWARUPAM” the word entity has been used.)
TAT = i.e., the God i.e., of the purest entity.

DHIMAHI = i.e., we must hold (sort of meditation) because
YAHA = the God
NAHA = our,
DHIYAHA = mind(i.e., in our minds)
PRACHODYAT = by inspiration (fulfil the mind with wisdom)

MEANING
“We meditate the God who is the base of lives’ of universe, totally free from any sorrow, omnipresent, creates the universe, gives all pleasure/merriment, most supreme and acceptable, purest entity; May the God enlighten our minds with wisdom by His inspiration”.

Here it is not out of place to mention that idea of a (one) Ved mantra is based on ideas of several Ved mantras. So in the above Gayatri mantra, there are three things —-

Bhuhu, Bhuvaha, Swaha, Savituhu, Bhargaha, Devsya are some qualities amongst unlimited qualities of God. These are called Stuti i.e., to say about God with His real qualities and not self made etc.

Secondly Dhimahi means meditation i.e., one should always sit in meditation and do hard and pious deeds for which he will have to study Vedas in full, while discharging moral duties towards family and nation.

Third and last is DHIYO YO NAHA PRACHODYAT. It is a prayer to God explanation of which is cited above.

PROCEDURE OF CHANTING

Please, start the day by chanting Gayatri mantra in the early morning sitting on suitable asan like Sukhasan, Siddhasan or Padmasan etc. concentrate on the point between two eyebrows which is called “Agyachakra”. The Gayatri mantra should be chanted along with its meaning both times. Also, please try to perform daily hawan even with Gayatri mantra. Then try to study any of my books daily and put up question if any.

After 15 days chant the Gayatri mantra only thrice thereafter do the name jaap of Almighty God-“Om”. The jaap must be done daily by heart and not orally.

STUDENT LOSING CONCENTRATION

Concentration is not made on mind, but mind has to be concentrated on particular point or subject etc. It requires practice of Yam, Niyam, Asan, Prannayam, Pratyahar, Dharnna and Dhyan then one attains Samadhi. In this path, guidance of a spiritual master who knows Vedas and Ashtang Yoga philosophy is needed. Holy name jaap of God helps a lot. I have written a book on Yoga which can be sent on receipt of your postal address. However, personal guidance as stated is essential. It is a moral duty of a student to concentrate on hard study and to look after his health. Avoid bad society always concentrate on your Brahmacharya. Awake early in the morning and after bath-brush etc., do holy name jaap of God at least for fifteen minutes. Go for morning walk and light exercises daily. Take plenty of water i.e., 15-20 glass in a day. Always respect your parents, elders and teachers. Must be soft spoken, Avoid TV to see bad scenes, films etc. This all will help you to concentrate in you study. Whatever, you study and learn, try to write on rough book a lot without seeing books etc. Please refer to the book- “Brahmacharya-Dukh Nivarak Divya Mani”.

How to obtain success as a student

A student must do hard study with firm mind to get success. However, ‘WHERE THERE IS A WILL, THERE IS A WAY’ AND IT IS ALSO SAID THAT “NEVER BECOME NERVOUS AND TRY, TRY, TRY AGAIN.”

Hard working, devotion, dedication, honesty, services to the parents and elders to follow eternal religion mentioned in Vedas, practice of Ashtang Yoga, discharge moral duties to get progress simultaneously in education, science and in spiritualism, do daily havan, to make contact with the learned Acharya, to get his advice are some of the pious deeds which make the future bright and kill the sorrows, problems, diseases, etc.

One must awake early in the morning for early morning walk and exercises. Must sit on meditation and chant holy name of God, must be away from any addiction and non-vegetarian. Such pious actions lead to long, happy life and bright future.

THE HARD STUDY DONE BY STUDENTS AND THEIR GOOD HEALTH WILL SURE GIVE THEM SUCCESS TO MAKE THEM A GOOD EARNING HAND. THE STUDENT MUST ALSO CHANT GAYATRI MANTRA DAILY.

Omkara: Dear swamiji , pranams , this is regarding mantra deeksha or mantra upadehsa. but i want to just clear my doubt. please answer this one . I have received mantra upadesha in dec 2006 on margashirsha shukla ekadashi via phone by an eminent panchangakarta and sidhanti from vijaywada .on the appointed time i called him on mobile and after due rituals etc and after recitatation of complete sankalpa he gave me a mantra on phone .i won’t reveal the mantra but i have been regularly reciting this mantra for the past eight years. does this qualify as mantra deeksha . is he my real guru or should i have to wait for some more time .please answer this.hope i am not troubling u. with kind regards. Omkara
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you.
According to Vedas, mantra deeksha includes gayatri mantra also which is given in presence of Guru (acharya) and disciple. Nothing more can be told in this matter. So, you should get deeksha personally from a guru who knows Vedas and ashtang yoga philosophy.

Jaychand: God bramha ke kitne children hai?
Swami Ram Swarup: Ishwar ke hum sabhi bachchey hain kyunki Woh hamein janam dekar hamara paalan-poshan karta hai.

DC: When I do havan after that i sit for meditation do naam jap, should I keep doing naam jap all the time whole day inside? Or just when I sit for meditiaton only and suppose I do some mantra not from ved and I feel that vibrations are coming or I go in deep meditation then does it mean that non ved mantra from devi devta is also powerful?
Swami Ram Swarup: Name jaap and havan are done both times i.e., in the morning as well as in the evening. However, if person has a time in a day to repeat he may do according to his suitability. After doing havan, name-jaap and meditation can be done otherwise name-jaap, asan, prannayam and meditation should be done in the morning between 4-6 O’ clock.

Havan with ved mantras only give fruitful result and not others.

Vinod: Koi kaam nahi ban raha hain, har kaam me koi na koi rukawat aa jati hain, krupa karke marg dharshan kare. Pranan
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. Rigved 10/135/1, 2, 3, 4 ka yahi bhaav hai ki manushya ka yeh janam pichhley janam ke kiye punnya paap karmon ka phal bhogne ke liye mila hai. To jitni der punnya karma ka phal mahina, do mahina, saal ,do saal rahega, utnee deir tak to weh manushya, is janam mein kiye paap karmon ko karta hua bhi pichhley janam ka punnya phal sukh ke roop mein hee bhogega . Jab punnya phal ka time samapt ho jayega tab weh manushya paap karma ka phal dukh ke roop mein bhogega. Yeh ved mantra, yeh bhi kehta hai ki jo is janam mein hum paap karte hain uska phal dukh ke roop mein agley janamon mein bhoga jaata hai. Isiliye log zydatar yahi sochtey hain ki kitne hee insaan paap karma karte hain lekin sukhi dikhayee deite hain. Unhein yeh maaloom nahin ki weh pichhley janam ke kiye karmon ka sukh bhog rahey hain. Iska example Ravanna bhi hai ki jab tak uska paap ka ghada nahin bhara, usnein sukh bhoga aur jaisey hee paap karne ka time khatam ho gaya uskee sone ki Lanka ujad gayee.

Doosree baat yeh hai ki Ishwar bhakti ke bina koi bhi sukh parpt nahin kar sakta. isliye jo insaan aaj pichhley janamon ke punnya phal se dhan –parivar aadi ka sukh bhog rahey hain, weh bhi yadi Ishwar ki ved anusar bhakti nahin karte to dikhinge to weh sukhi par mansik dukh unhein andar hee andar sataata hee rehta hai. Isliye ved kahte hain ki manushya ka yeh janam pakar vedon ke anusar Ishwar bhakti karte hue pichhle janamon ke dukh deney wale karmon ko nasht kiya ja sakta hai aur is prakar ek lambi sukhmayee aayu parapt kee ja saktee hai.

‘FUTURE’

Future is based on pious deeds, hard working towards a right path and God helps those who help themselves.

It depends on your hard working and pious deeds. One should worship God daily to get His blessings in every matter. Good job, education, richness, happiness etc., is the result of previous life’s pious deeds and present life’s hard working, dedication, devotion, hardworking, honesty etc. And in this life one should always also do real worship of God to finish the obstacles if any which may be due to previous life’s bad deeds. So worship is always required along with hard working, devotion, dedication towards right path to get progress in the life.
