Kiran: Namaste yoga acharya charna sparsh. Once again soul (ATMA) lead number questions. 1) is the soul a particle of almighty God?
2) in the Bible ‘soul is immaterial part of human beings & in VEDA God lives in our soul as a true preceptor.we all live in him & he lives us.
3) the immortal soul has it provided with complete knowledge & fundamental laws of God’s before birth?
4) is the soul silent observer of the good & bad karma ?
5) God is the master & controller of all souls is the soul agent to maintain record of good & bad karma?
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you.

(i) No, please. Soul is not a particle of Almighty God. In this regard, I paste my answer.

All living and non-living matters are not particles of almighty God, please. Yajurveda mantra 40/8 clearly states “Avrannam” i.e., God can’t be broken into pieces. Brick is non-alive matter made of prakriti and is destructible but God has not been made from any matter and is also not destructible.

Soul is not a part of Almighty God because God cannot be divide into pieces. If soul would lie within or get merged in God then how soul would experience the divine pleasure in salvation? So, soul does not lie within or get merged in God. God does not create the soul. He creates human body. He clearly states in the Vedas that this human body is meant for the study of Vedas, discharging of moral duties and pious deeds etc., to realise God.

In Vedas there are three matters: non-alive prakriti, alive souls and alive Almighty God. God creates universe from non-alive Prakriti- including Sun, moon, water , air etc., including all bodies of living beings. Soul gets body according to his previous lives’ good or bad deeds, He, according to Rigveda mantra 10/135/1,2, faces the result of his previous lives’ deeds and does new deeds in the present life which are to be faced in the rebirth. The soul who, while discharging all his moral duties and pious deeds, worships God under the guidance of a learned acharya, he gets salvation.

Atma (Soul)

Atma consists of two meanings according to situation. For example when it is said that atma takes birth, then it means soul and when it is said that atma is Almighty and creates universe, then it means Almighty God. It is usually told nowadays that everything is atma which is false and not possible being against the Vedas. In Vedas, there are three eternal matters Almighty God, prakriti and souls. Almighty God and souls are alive matters whereas prakriti is non –alive matter. From Prakriti, all the matters of universe are created. But neither from God nor soul any matter is created. Soul can never be God being unchangeable and God can also never be soul being unchangeable. Soul due to the attraction towards prakriti is indulged in illusion and forgets his original form of immortal peace, purity etc. and has to face the birth and death again and again.

But Almighty being the commander of the souls and prakriti, is never attracted towards prakriti. He always remains purified. So, God cannot forget his original form and is never indulged in any kind of illusion. Therefore, everything like tree, tube light, stone, electric fan are made of prakriti and hence can never be God.

QUALITIES OF SOULS (JEEVATAMA)

Soul is alive. Soul has to face the result of his deeds. Soul takes body of human beings, animals, birds, trees etc., according to deeds of past lives. Soul feels sorrow, happiness etc., through body. When soul leaves body, it feels nothing but carries all karma to be faced in next birth through his chitta’s (chitta) vritti (vritti).

Souls are innumerable but are constant in number having similar qualities like being pure, immortal, alive etc. Soul is infinitesimally small, is invisible. The bodies of all living beings contain souls.

Not God but soul has desire, hatred/malice, merriment, sufferings, attachment etc. While attracting itself towards materialistic articles made of prakriti soul forgets his original form. As a result, soul recognizes himself as body. This is the stage of soul being unwise.

“NA TAM VIDATH YA IMA JAJAANANYUDYUSHMAKAMANTARAM BABHOOVA,

NEEHAREINN PRAVRITA JALAPYA CHASUTRIP UKTHASHASCHARANTI.”

(RIGVEDA MANTRA 10/82/7)

(TAM) that God (NA) not ( VIDATH) known (YAH) who (EMA) all worlds (JAJANN) creates and (YAT) from you (ANYAT) separate from other souls(YUSHMAKAM) from you (ANTARAM) with in all (BABHOOVA) is (NIHAREINN) fog like smoke (YAT) that God (PRAVARITAHA) covered (JALAPYAHA) baseless discussion (ASUTRIPAHA) satisfied only in Prann [breathing system] (UKTHASHASAHA) only paying lip service (CHARANTI) deals or behaves.

Meaning: Like an invisible matter which is covered with fog similarly dealing in only lip service and indulging in baseless discussion and are satisfied in their breathing system, Oh! Man-woman, you do not know the God who creates the five matters/universe and the God who is separate from other souls and who is within all.

(ii) What definition would you give for human –beings? You know, please that human –beings mean all human bodies wherein soul resides. So, soul the alive matter is separate from human body which is made from non-alive matter of prakriti. Body is destroyed but alive soul is immortal.

(iii) Complete knowledge is always in Almighty God and not in souls, please. However, soul is immortal and away from illusion but has forgotten his original form.

(iv) No, please. Soul is not silent observer but soul in human body has to face result of his previous lives’ deeds pious and sins awarded by God. The soul is also free to do deeds in present life. Silent observer is Almighty God who always watches us for twenty-four hours and awards the result of our deeds.

(v) Almighty God is Lord of all souls and prakriti and further prakriti made all the matters of universe. As I’ve told above, Almighty God sees and maintains the record of deeds, not souls.
