R D S: Shaat Shaat Pranam Swamiji. If you have noticed, I have changed the saadar pranam to shaat shaat pranam, means I really admire your answer which touched my soul. Swamiji, please correct me if I am wrong. I asked for the longer version of Gayatri mantra. This mantra was given by my late Guruji (short version, which you explained). I jaap this mantra daily when I get time or it comes in my mind to do jaap. I feel that the shorter version was cut off from longer version. I am asking the same question again. I am doing so because the person who told me has asked me not to talk about the full version except the person like you.

As you mentioned, this mantra should be done in the heart only and not orally. The same was also told by my Guruji. Why people/pandits are chanting this mantra so loudly?
When will I get your personal blessings? With warm regards.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. Thank you very much, please. Yet, I would say that answers are given due to the blessings of Almighty God and hence the true praise is attributed to God. So, I thank you again. In the matter of Gayatri mantra, I would like to say the Gayatri mantra is mentioned in three Vedas as under-

1. Yajurveda mantra 36/3

2. Samveda 1462

3. Rigveda 3/62/10

You see, Vedas are unchangeable and unchallengeable like Almighty God because the knowledge

Of Vedas has not been written by any Rishi-Muni, Tapasvi, sadhu-sant, man or woman but it emanates direct from Almighty God.

So, neither the Ved mantras can be altered nor can be made short, please. However, its meaning can vary. So, I would request you to clarify your question whether you want detailed meaning of Gayatri mantra or longer version of Gayatri mantra.

I would again like to tell you that Gayatri mantra quoted above can neither be made longer or shorter, please.

As regards, jaap of Gayatri mantra, the aspirant can do as many malas by heart according to availability of time. I mean to say, more or less time can be devoted. But, one must always try to devote more and more time.

It is said “Where there is a will, there is a way”. So, please try to come here and sure God will help us. Again, My blessings to you, my son.

What is the problem with me? I am very depressed . As a result i am losing my confidence. Please help …
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. In this regard, I paste my article-

Concentration is not made on mind, but mind has to be concentrated on particular point or subject etc. It requires practice of Yam, Niyam, Asan, Pranayaam, Pratyahar, Dharnna and Dhyan then one attains Samadhi. In this path, guidance of a spiritual master who knows Vedas and Ashtang Yoga philosophy is needed. Holy name jaap of God helps a lot. I have written a book on Yoga which can be sent on receipt of your postal address. However, personal guidance as stated is essential. It is a moral duty of a student to concentrate on hard study and to look after his health. Avoid bad society always concentrate on your Brahamcharya. Awake early in the morning and after bath-brush etc., do holy name jaap of God at least for fifteen minutes. Go for morning walk and light exercises daily. Take plenty of water i.e., 15-20 glass in a day. Always respect your parents, elders and teachers. Must be soft spoken, Avoid TV to see bad scenes, films etc. This all will help you to concentrate in you study. Whatever, you study and learn, try to write on rough book a lot without seeing books etc. Please refer to the book- “Brahamcharya-Dukh Nivarak Divya Mani”.

Yajurveda mantra 7/48 states clearly that we are free to do good or bad/sins, deeds but the result is awarded by God in the shape of happiness and sorrows respectively. So please do not worry if results are not according to your wish. But it is also a fact that hard working towards right path never goes in vain. And God helps those who help themselves. Please continue your hard working and God will sure bless you. Also please do worship of God daily with prayers. Better if you do havan daily from Gayatri mantra.

Student not getting success

Manu has quoted ten signs of dharma (eternal religion) which is only made by God in Vedas. It’s first sign is Dhriti i.e., patience, tolerance. So one should always be brave and never be demoralised. Then only he/she will be called religious person. Secondly, a student must try, try, try again. He has mainly two duties to perform- First to attain Brahmcharya and look after his health. Second is he must do hard study. Now, the less or more marks also be the result of our deeds which become obstacle inspite of hard study. So to overcome the situation we must always remember God. If you are in home with your parents then you must daily do havan with gayatri mantra and chant gayatri mantra along with its meaning before going to bed. If in hostel then you should chant gayatri mantra in mind with its meaning daily both times. It will be beneficial to you.

A student must always be away from bad societies. He must also do daily light exercises in the morning, must take plenty of water daily i.e., at least fifteen glasses of pure water a day which will help the student to overcome the said sins and to make full concentration on his studies.

Every student must be brave and not coward. He must be a hard worker. So you must always struggle and do hard work to get success in life. And the word that student has become extremely distressed in life should not be used. Please try, try again to get success.

We must learn and do asana, pranayaam and meditation daily. This pious worship will give you a lot of mental as well as physical energy and everything then will be okay.

Yet, if you have any query, you may send it again, please.
