Kunal: Touching your holy feet Swamiji. Respected Swamiji, can you please explain the meaning of Yajurved mantra 8/48. Swamiji, the translation that I am having states that the adultery by husband is forbidden but adultery by wife is not forbidden. People say that adultery by women is not a son though she gets tainted by sin, her sin is washed away monthly. I apologise if I am wrong. Actually this is how these verses are translated by an Australian Hindu organization. They are encouraging adultery. I just wanted to know the true meaning of these verses because I believe that Almighty cannot be such biased and pervert to allow such vices. I have full faith in him and you. Swamiji, please help me debunk this false propaganda and Swamiji, one more question. Please if you can state the verses with explanation in which punishment for adultery is stated in holy Vedas.
Swami Ram Swarup: My heartiest blessings to you, son.
Meaning of Yajurveda mantra 8/48 is as under —–

(Patman) Oh! immoral husband (who falls down from moral duties) I make you fearful/make you to tremble from committing sensuality with other ladies, ladies who are pure like divine water.

(Patman) Oh! immoral husband (who falls down from moral duties) I warn you to keep yourself away from humble wives of others.

(Patman) Oh! immoral husband (who falls down from moral duties) I warn you to keep yourself away from humble wives of others who have maintained noble conduct.

(Patman) Oh! immoral husband (who falls down from moral duties) I warn you to keep yourself away from others’ wife who experience pleasure.

So, keep yourself away from wandering in sad manner.

(Patman) Oh! immoral husband (who falls down from moral duties) I warn you to keep yourself away from sweet-hearted wives of others.

(Patman) Oh! immoral husband (who falls down from moral duties) I warn you to be away from indulging in sexual activities in day time.

Meaning of ved mantras given above clarify all the fact based on which you are able to understand that rest of the views mentioned in E—mail are totally wrong and against Vedas. Because views of above mantras are equally applicable to wife also, God being impartial.

For the punishment, you may read my book VEDIC PUNISHMENT FOR CRIMINALS (Women offenders), if you desire.

Ganesh: I was reading your articles and answers and u have stressed on brahmacharya many times but my doubt is if everyone observe brahmacharya then why a person with no sexual desire (brahmacharya) will desire to marry and live with a woman? Are everyone expected to observe perfect brahmacharya or only striving for it and saving veerya in enough because sexual thoughts may come which is break in brahmacharya, isnt it ?
Swami Ram Swarup: Brahmacharya is not meant only for maintaining it in unmarried life but it is to be also observed in married life. The matter being lengthy cannot be briefed here so I would advise you to read “Ved Mandir Prakashan’s ” book named “Brahmacharya Dukh Nivarak Divya Manni”. The price of the book is worth Rs.100 /- excluding postal charges. The book can be sent to you on receipt of your postal address, if you desire. Book will give you immense knowledge.

If you do not desire to study the book then send please your question again.
