Basant: What is the age of Maharshi patanjali, Maharshi kanaad and Maharshi gautam? I heard that Maharshi vyaas wrote a commentary on patanjali’s yog sutra. Is it true?
Swami Ram Swarup: Sorry, Ages of Rishis quoted by you is not known, please. But, it is definite that mostly Rishis crossed hundred years of age, due to maintaining their Brahmacharya, tapasya and simple life style. Yes, Vyas Muni has written commentary on Patanjal Yog Darshan but it is not yet clear in the view of some learned acharyas whether Vyas Muni was the same who wrote Vedanta shastra and Mahabharata epic. Mostly the learned say that Vyas Muniji only wrote the said two holy books and not any other book like Bhagwad purann etc.
