M: I belong to the parents and parents in law who are very simple and hardworking as well as honest as much as possible. But they do not preach the God like how you state. They believe in God but mostly they do prayer from the heart during bad and good times and go to the temple many times. I also have that habit. I want to follow your advices but I am afraid if I will be able to follow it always in determined manner. I need your blessings for that. Performing Havan seems to be difficult for me. How should I start step by step so that I do not leave it anytime? Other thing is, whenever I look around in society, I feel very much guilty and hopelessness for living comes into my mind all the time for my deed. I wonder that how could I do that in spite of belonging to a good parents and family. Am I of bad character now also and will that label on me continue all my life? Am I eligible to play a role of good wife, mother and daughter-in-law in spite of my deed? Will I be eligible to ask forgiveness from my family anytime in life? Please help me overcome the torture of condemnation (of myself) from my inner voice. Do you have plans to visit Bangalore anytime, Guruji?
Swami Ram Swarup: It is good that you are making contact with her. She will guide you sure. You may get Vedic literature and Cds also. Daily yajyen, Havan gives peace to all. It is also a worship of God. We have to face our good and bad deeds individually. So, I would advise you to take a bold step with the permission of your husband to perform daily havan for the benefit for your family also. You should now forget about being guilty etc. My blessings are with you. You may send your query anytime.

M: Namaste Swamiji. I am 46 years, my husband is 51 years old (Previous questions & answers: Query: I am married and do not have children. Upon my or my husband’s death, would it be necessary to perform the 10 and 13/16 day rituals after cremation? We do not wish to impose the responsibility of the pujas on any male relative. What is the simplest puja that can be done after cremation?)
Swami Ram Swarup: My daughter, your age and your husband age is not that old, to think about cremation etc. It is a time to start worship of God to get peace.

It should be clear that after death, a person has nothing to discharge any duty. Please, try to know that all human-bodies are made of non-alive matter Prakriti. We are souls and live in bodies. So, we are not non-alive bodies but we are alive souls. In this connection, I would advice you with whole heart to please study my book- Vedanta and eternal Vedas’ philosophy Part I and II (in English) worth Rs.31/-, Rs.20/-, excluding postal charges. It can be sent on receipt of your postal address, if you desire.

Study of these books will give you immense knowledge about God, souls (yourself) and Prakriti, including Prakriti made world. Yajurveda puts question in this regard that
(1) Who are you?
(2) To whom do you belong?
(3) What is your form?
(4) What is your name?

According to Vedas, shastras, Geeta and other holy granths, answer comes-
(1) I am alive, immortal and the purest soul.
(2) I have no parents.
(3) I am subtlest (minutest) in form.
(4) Soul.

So, we are souls. The names like Ram, Krishna, Asha, Somendra etc., are of human-bodies which are destroyed and placed on pyre on day but souls are immortal. Therefore, the cremation of body and not that of soul is done by others.

According to Yajurveda chapter 39, soul comes out of body, at the time of death and remains in the sky for thirteen days and after this period enters into another body according to deeds. So, you and your husband should never bother about cremation and other kinds of poojas etc., because the same is not requied after that except the cremation of body.

You see, several sanyasis who are not married, leave their bodies in jungle alone but they get superior birth based on their worship. So, you require Vedic knowledge and daily worship but not cremation etc.

Kanhai: Kirtan parampara ka janm data kaun hai?
Swami Ram Swarup: Knowledge of Vedas is eternal and everlasting. Whatever is being happened or will be happening in the universe it is all according to Vedas. For example Samveda mantra 164 states that everybody should sit around the vedi/hawankund to perform hawan and to do kirtan of Almighty God by singing or pronouncing Ved mantras. So the said tradition (prarampara) is eternal and everlasting.
