Venugopal: Please solve my problem that how I increase my concentration in study and increase my memory.
Swami Ram Swarup: Building interest in studies
It is a moral duty of a student to concentrate on hard study and to look after his health. Avoid bad society always concentrate on your Brahmacharya. Awake early in the morning and after bath- brush etc., do holy name jaap of God at least for 15 minutes. Go for morning walk and light exercises daily. Take plenty of water i.e., at least 15 -to 20 glasses in a day. Always respect your parents, elders and teachers. Must be soft spoken, avoid TV so as not to see bad scenes, films etc. this all will help you to concentrate in your study. Whatever you study and learn, try to write on rough book a lot without seeing books etc. I have written a book on Brahmacharya in Hindi, that can be sent free of cost to you. The book is specially meant for students.
Student losing concentration
Concentration is not made on mind, but mind has to be concentrated on particular point or subject etc. It requires practice of Yam, Niyam, Asan, Pranayaam, Pratyahar, Dharnna and Dhyan then one attains Samadhi. In this path, guidance of a spiritual master who knows Vedas and Ashtang Yoga philosophy is needed. Holy name jaap of God helps a lot. I have written a book on Yoga which can be sent on receipt of your postal address. However, personal guidance as stated is essential. It is a moral duty of a student to concentrate on hard study and to look after his health. Avoid bad society always concentrate on your Brahamcharya. Awake early in the morning and after bath-brush etc., do holy name jaap of God at least for fifteen minutes. Go for morning walk and light exercises daily. Take plenty of water i.e., 15-20 glass in a day. Always respect your parents, elders and teachers. Must be soft spoken, Avoid TV to see bad scenes, films etc. This all will help you
to concentrate in you study. Whatever, you study and learn, try to write on rough book a lot without seeing books etc. Please refer to the book- “Brahamcharya-Dukh Nivarak Divya Mani”.
Shubh Karma
Hard working, devotion, dedication, honesty, services to the parents and elders to follow eternal religion mentioned in Vedas, practice of Ashtang Yoga, discharging moral duties to get progress in education, science simultaneously with spiritualism like, daily havan, to be in contact with the learned Acharya, to get his advice, are some of the pious deeds which make the future bright and obliterate the sorrows, problems, diseases, etc.
One must wake up early in the morning for early morning walk and exercises, must sit on meditation and chant holy name of God, must be away from any addiction and non-veg. Such pious actions lead to long, happy life and bright future.
A B: Since 5/6 years many problems are arising one after the other. I am a Govt. servant, I am always made to transfer which is an injustice towards me by the authority and I am left helpless. Please suggest some solution to my problems and help me to put them to end. I will be grateful to you.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you, my son. You have quoted only one problem of transfer, please. Government servant is usually transferred from one place to another, minimum after two years. But in several cases, he is not posted for a long time. So, you must address your appeal to higher authorities through proper channel, quoting your family problems. I would also advise you to chant daily Gayatri mantra with its meaning and do havan with Gayatri mantra daily. In the end of havan, you must pray to God daily to solve your problems. In this way, God will sure listen and obstacles will be removed. Secondly, the relation between husband and wife is also meant to cooperate with each other. So, your wife should also consider your problem and I think like a learned women she will be cooperating with you. My blessings to you.
Mohamed Jabbar: How many God are there in Hinduism? And let me see from the Vedas of from others?
Swami Ram Swarup: When question of God arises then learned acharyas preach that God creates, nurses and destroys the universe. He is Almighty, formless, omnipresent, omniscient, beyond calculation, beyond description and He was one, is one and will ever remain one- Unchangeable God. I also paste one of my articles in this regard.
God is formless
Being formless there is no need of statue or temple of God according to Vedas. As a matter of fact, you, I or every human being, lives in a body. Body is separate, we are called souls. Vedas say soul has no form even. Then also we know each other. For example even if you have not seen the photograph of King Akbar then, you can know Akbar by means of the study of his qualities. So is the case with the God. If an aspirant really goes to his Guru and listens Vedas like Shri Ram, and ancient kings and their public then he will be able to know hundred percent about formless God. Then comes realization for which Vedas (especially Samveda) says that he who performs Yajna, does jaap (according to Vedas) and practises Ashtang Yoga Philosophy while remaining in family like Shri Ram etc., he sure realizes ,being eternal law.
If we will meditate concentrating outside our body which is also against Vedas/Ashtang Yoga Philosophy, then our attention will always naturally remain outside i.e., attached with outer world i.e., decoration/music/dances etc. In that case subject matter of God will be over. It will be converted into spending fun, doing dances and singing attractive songs by ladies and gents, which is totally against Vedas. Thus the chapter of praising God, True Acharya, Rishi-Munis, performing Yajyen, practice of Ashtang Yoga, eternal knowledge of Vedas etc., will be over.
It is also baseless to say that study of Vedas and practice of yoga philosophy is difficult. It is self made story because Vedas are also called Shruti i.e., Vedas are to be listened first and not to be studied. So to listen to the Vedas, a learned Acharya is needed. The Acharya will explain the Ved mantras in the Yajna in your own language i.e., in English or Urdu etc., and for an aspirant to do asan, pranayaam, meditation etc., is also not difficult. It is all difficult for those human beings, including present false prophets, (who are against the Vedas), who are lazy, can’t awake early in the morning to listen Vedas and fail to do practice of yoga philosophy. Those people are always after money, materialistic articles and pomp and show, etc.
Vedas are not written or spoken by God. This knowledge is emanated from God and is originated in the heart of four Rishis as stated above. God is Almighty i.e., He has all powers. So He needs no assistance to do universal deeds. In human body alive soul resides and soul is dependent, soul requires mouth to speak, eye to see, hand to write etc., etc. but not God. From His power God originates the knowledge of Vedas in the rishis without writing, or speaking etc. Vedas’ knowledge is divine. The fundamental of the Vedas is this that it was not written or spoken. The knowledge by the power of God was originated about one Arab 96 crore, 8 lakh and 53 000 years ago. Then first time the four rishis of unsexual creation started pronunciation of the mantras by the power of God. God wanted them to know word meanings and senses of the mantras and therefore the rishis knew all. Then first time the four rishis started pronunciation of the mantras. They taught the
mantras to other ignorant people. Then another rishis were produced who knew the Vedas by heart by listening only. There was no paper, ink or pen there. The Vedas were being learnt by mouth to mouth and traditionally this process is yet in force. But mostly not by heart but taking help of the printed book. So printed books are not called Vedas but these are called samhita.
Samhita means the collection of Ved mantras. Therefore Present printed books cannot be considered as Vedas and will never be in future, but samhita. Kapil Muni throws light on this point in his Sankhya Shastra 5/48 that when a rishi does tapsya in the shape of Yajyen, study of Vedas, practice of Ashtang Yoga then the Ved mantras still (now also) originate in heart of the Rishi and the rishi pronounces the mantras. Those mantras are called Vedas, which emanate from God. So Vedas must first be listened (study) from alive Acharya (Guru who knows Vedas). Then only Samhita (books of Vedas) can help.
I generally state-
“Jhuka Do Sar usi Ke Samane Aa jaye Jo Koi,
Ki Jab Sajada Hi karna Hai To Allah Sab mein Rehat Hai.”
So, He is the God who is omnipresent. Mazhab have been made for our betterment. But in every mazhab/sect, God is one who is unchangeable. He does not come in death and birth cycle.
Now, it is upto human-beings who do idol worship, Devi-Devtas’ Worship, mazaar/Dargaah worship etc. Their faith in such worships may bring them one day to the truth to make them able to worship formless, omnipresent God, who is one but His names are several as stated in Rigveda mantra 1/164/46.

Swami Ram Swarup: Your hard efforts and your qualification may award you its result to get suitable government Job, please. So, go ahead and get it. However, in all cases, worship of God is necessary because God awards everything. So, please do daily worship of God and pray to Him to fulfill your desire.
A K: I am having financial problems. I am a young professional in job.
Swami Ram Swarup: You are still young to do hard job to earn more and more money for family. So, try hard to earn the money by doing side business etc. Also try to minimize your requirement, please. Do, daily Gayatri mantra jaap and havan with Gayatri mantra. In the end, do pray to God to fulfill your desires.
S: I have to take a sleeping pill to sleep. I am unable to sleep at night.
Swami Ram Swarup: It is sad to listen about your health that in the early age you have to take a tablet to sleep. But one should never be disheartened/nervous. Be brave and get up early in the morning to go for a long, morning walk and light exercises daily. If you are in the habit of thinking continuously and love to remain alone etc., then, please break such process immediately. Take plenty of water daily. Take nutritious food. Try either to go for a walk in the evening also or do light exercises in home. Keep yourself always busy in studying spiritual books. The books can also be sent from here, if you desire.
Don’t remain alone. Remain busy, busy and busy. Try to learn some yogasans, prannayam and meditation. After learning from an experienced acharaya, do daily practice. When you retire to bed in the night then do name jaap of Om even while in bed for sometime. Then you will see that without any tablet, you will be able to take sound sleep daily.
Rekha Nautiyal: Swami ji, charan sparsh, Please let me know about Yam and Niyams of Astang Yoga in detail and how I can use them in my daily life.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you, my daughter. Question is very typical. Its answer is lengthy. There are eight parts of ashtang Yoga Philosophy. Those are Yam, Niyam Asan, Prannayam, Pratyahar, Dharna, Dhyan, and Samadhi. Then further Yam and Niyam are divided by five qualities each- So, I would advise you to read my book- Yoga- A Divine Vedas’ Philosophy (In English), Patanjal Yog Darshan-comments on each shloka in Hindi. Books shall give you immense and complete knowledge of ashtang yoga philosophy which is mentioned in Vedas. As regards practice, the practice thereof is started in front of a learned acharya.
