Ashwin: Swamiji,my pranams to you.
Q1.I request you to provide shloka evidences that Sri Rama was 25 years of age and Mata Sita was 18 years of age from Valmiki Ramayana with word by word meaning.I am asking this because some people establish that Sri Rama and Mata Sita were 12 and 6 years old respectively during their marriage quoting shlokas from the same Valmiki Ramayana in order to prove that child marriage was there at that time. So,please provide the word by word meaning of shloka.
Q2.You wrote in one article of this website that Sri Rama was a mathematician etc. What are the evidences for this?
Q3.You mentioned that Ramayana happened some crore years ago. What are the evidences from Valmiki Ramayana for this dating?
Q4.I would like to know about Marichi. Is Marichi really a bird sent by Ravana? How can a bird deceive Sri Rama and made Rama to chase him? Please clarify me.
Q5.Did Sage Vasishta live a long life throughout the lineage of Raguvamsha? When did he take birth and when did he leave this world? What is the blood relation between Vasishtaji and Sri Rama?
Clarify me. Thank you.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you.
(1) In 11 sarg of balkand of Valmiki Ramayan when Vishwamitraji asked to take Ram along with him in jungle to do fight devils then King Dashrath states to Vishwamitra that the age of Sri Ram is only 15 years, so Sri Ram is unable to fight against devils. Shloka is as under-

(Oonshodashvarsho) 15 years of age (Me Ramo) my son Ram (Rajeevlochanaha) having eyes like lotus i.e., age of my lotus eyed son Ram, is only 15 years. (Na) not (Yudhyogyatamasya) capable to fight war (Pashyami) see (Saha) with (Rakshasaihi) devils. i.e., I don’t see that he is capable to fight war against the devils.

When Sri Ram reached Mithilapuri along with Vishwamitra ji then King Janak told Vishwamitraji in 24th sarg of Balkand, Valmiki Ramayan (comments written by Paramhansa Sh.Jagdishwaranandji Saraswati that Bhagwan Ram looks like a Devta. He is like elephant, lion and bull and warrior is very active. His eyes are like lotus. He is holding sword, bow and quiver. In beauty he is handsome like Ashwani Kumar. He is full of youth i.e., he is quite young. In the matter of youth, Valmikiji has used the word-
“Samupasthityowvanau”

Meaning being “entered in full young stage”. According to Vedas, minimum age of marriage for a boy is 25 years and all Ayurvedic granths etc., clearly state that full young age starts from 25 years.
So, Shri Ramji went with Vishwamitraji at the age of 15 years. He served and looked after Shri Vishwamitraji, who was doing his pious Yajyen. In this process, when Shri Ram reached Mithilapuri i.e., Janak’s Kingdom, he became 25 years of age and Sita Mata, at that time was of 18 years.

In this connection, Atharvaveda mantra 11/5/18 states:-
“BRAHAMCHARYEIN KANYA YUVAANUM VINDATE PATIM.”
i.e., by maintaining brahamcharya, a girl gets young husband. So, the period of Brahamcharya, in case of girl starts from 18 years of age and not 6 years of age.

(2) In Balkand sarg 1 shloka 13 of Valmiki Ramayana (commented by Paramhansa Sh. Jagdishwaranandji Saraswati) Valmikiji states about Sri Ram that Sri Ram was “ved vedang tatvajyenha’ i.e., he was learned of Vedas and in Vedas, maths and science subjects are given in detail.

(3) Please send your postal address to send evidence because it is lengthy statement (about period of Ramayan). It will be sent by post.

(4) You are advised to please purchase Valmiki Ramayan commented by Paramhansa Sh. Jagdishwaranandji Saraswati in which you would be able to know about Marichi and other historical figures.

(5) About Vasishthji Valmiki Ramayan states only that when Sri Ram returned to Ayodhya after victory on Lanka then Guru Vasishth ji was alive. Thereafter, no evidence is available.

Aniket: Dear Guruji , Is there anything such as luck , when we say some one is luck, is it just destiny at play. Then how come positive thinking enables confidence and hence into desired actions? When we ask the universe for things with emotion and feelings it responds just as the nature responds to our feelings . Havan and yoga are the pillars of Vedas undoubtedly and destiny is based on past life deeds. How does this all fit in with positive thinking philosophy. Kindly Explain?
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. Luck is in our hands, say the Vedas. Actually, God has blessed us with human body to face the result of previous lives’ good or bad deeds in the shape of happiness and sorrows respectively. (Rigveda mantra 10/135/1, 2 refers). But, further God has also preached that those who make contact with learned acharya of Vedas and Yoga philosophy and follow Vedic preach like daily Yajyen/havan, name jaap of God, practice of Ashtang Yoga, they
can destroy the effect of previous lives’ deeds so as not to face the sorrows, problems, tensions etc.

In this way, a person makes his future bright on his own. But problem is this that most of the people are after materialistic articles, pomp and show duly indulged in illusion and make their mind to observe sorrows as happiness, impure as pure, mortal as immortal, destructible as indestructible (Yog shastra sutra 2/5 refers). So, how will they be able to follow Vedic path due to indulgence in illusion, until a person follows Vedic path as quoted above and even starts daily havan, asan, prannayam, meditation. Positive thinking will not generate confidence and required action because negative thinking is due to effect of illusion. Things and every matter of universe is made of prakriti which is itself destructible and illusion. So, when our mind which is also made of prakriti gets attracted to materialistic articles of universe, we duly indulged in illusion feel happiness. I have already stated above about negative thinking, please. So, one should follow Vedic path to destroy illusion, so as to get long, happy life and a bright future.

Manish Dutta: Jai Guru Ji,i want to know that there is more big powerful thing else than God, Bhagwan, Ishwar and is these three things is same? Is this true that there is one God who doing all things? Why all Tirth, Parachin mandir Sthapana, Dev Bhoomi, all God Place in India? God is big or Guru please give answer of my question I am very great full to you, and I want to read Ved so how can I start first step?
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. No, please. There is no matter powerful than God and only God is Almighty and has unlimited powers. He creates, nurses and destroys the universe and again creates. So, you see, who is other than God, can do the same? So, we must only worship the said Formless, Almighty God based on eternal Vedas knowledge. Idol worship does not exist in Vedas. God is guru of the only four ancient Rishis of non-sexual creation i.e., after final destruction when new creation begins, said creation is called non-sexual creation. Thereafter, Vedic knowledge spreads orally and Rishis and Munis, Yogis, become our Gurus. As regards, temples, sthapanas etc., I paste my article as under-

Idol worship
Idol worship is due to the fact that mostly the saints have not studied Vedas. So naturally, they will not preach the eternal knowledge of Vedas to the public. Secondly, people are already innocent about the knowledge of Vedas. Thirdly, for the last about two-thousand years, the idol worship has been preached by those saints who are not aware of the knowledge of Vedas. So either the man made worship or the God-made worship will be followed by the people. God made worship is briefed in Vedas and man-made worship has been mentioned in other granths.

After Mahabharata war, knowledge of Vedas is not been given. As the result, worship against Vedas has come into existence. So it is up to the public whether, they follow Vedas or not, however, Vedas are the eternal knowledge which emanates direct from God and is originated in the heart of four Rishis, at the beginning of the earth for the benefit of the mankind.

Are Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh Gods?

Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh are not God. Vedas tell that there is only one formless God who never takes birth. He creates, nurses and destroys the universe. His power is enough to create and control the whole universe. He is Almighty i.e., He has all unlimited powers and therefore He does not need any assistance to create, nurse and destroy the universe by Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh. If God needs assistance then He will not be called Almighty. So God does not need any support but we all humans as well as all living beings need His support and blessings every time. However, in Vedas, there are innumerable names of Almighty God according to His divine qualities. So Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh etc., are also the names of the formless Almighty God. Brahma means the greatest. Vishnu means omnipresent and Mahesh means the greatest.

It is the personal matter of worship or not to worship. So atheists are also there. But it is very clear that God in Vedas as clarified that He Has blessed the human being with human body to worship and realise God. Nobody can attain happy life in the absence of worship of God. One more thing is clear from Vedas in which God states –Oh man/woman you live on the earth given by God and all comforts provided by the God. And if you do not remember/worship God then it is sin and punishment is awarded by the God. Very few persons know that present science has also come out from Vedas, especially Rigveda. The knowledge of Vedas also emanates from God. So, it is clear that scientist also enjoy science which is given by God. God is not only the matter of blind faith. It is the matter of discussion with a learned acharya of Vedas and Yoga philosophy who from Vedas, shastras and Upnishads etc., and scientifically also prove the existence of God. For example- we see the creation and can think deeply that who has created it or is it a job of man/woman, scientist, etc., then automatically after long discussion we would reach on the conclusion that men/women/scientist have not created the universe and then He who has created is called Almighty God.

Vishnu is also a name of formless, Almighty God based on quality. Quality is a sunder- “Vishnu” word is made from “Vishlari” Dhatu and the sense of Vishlari” is omnipresent. So he who has the quality of being Omnipresent at all times without a second’s break, He is Vishnu and no other Vishnu exists equivalent to this God. Similarly, Brahma= “Vri Vridhau” i.e., the biggest amongst the universe. Naturally, He is Almighty God. So, the name of Almighty God is also Brahma. Similarly,
according to Yajurveda mantra 16/41 shiv means he who is beneficial/causes welfare, is shiv. The most beneficial, who creates and nurses the universe is Almighty God. So, Shiv is also name of
Almighty God.

Your views to read Vedas are highly appreciated because traditionally all ancient Rishi-Munis and Rajrishis like King Manu, Yayati, Ashtak, Bharat, Harishchandra, Dashrath, Sri Ram, Sri Krishna Maharaj, Pandavas and several other Rishis and their public used to obey Vedic path. However, before entering Vedic knowledge, one has to listen or read some Vedic culture, therefore, I paste a list of my books and Cds, in which I have sung Vedic songs with preach, to enable you to choose any to study and listen first. You can come here also, if possible.
