Anonymous: Namaste swamiji …. kya kismat (destiny) hoti hai ? kya kismat pehle se hi likh di jaati hai?….agar kismat pehle se hi likhi hoti hai toh insaan apne circumstances nahi badal sakta , chahe woh kitni bhi koshish kar le?… fir itni mehnat karne ka kya fayda ? hum kya kare jisse humara vartmaan janam aur agla janam swarg jaisa ho ?
Swami Ramswarup: Namasteji. In this connection, I paste my article below:-

Three types of Deeds

There are three types of deeds (karmas) – sanchit, prarabhadh and kriyamann. Suppose one soul has to take birth (body). It means he has to face total number of deeds of his all previous lives and these deeds are called sanchit karmas but sanchit deeds are huge/unlimited and cannot be faced in one life. So the karmas which can be faced in one life are called prarabhadh (luck-destiny). So God has not made our luck at His own but Almighty God has taken the deeds which we have already done.

Yajurveda mantra 7/48 clarifies that human being is free to do any deed good or bad but God only awards the result. Now the balance deeds from sanchit deeds will be counted in the next life. Now the deeds which we do in our day today present life are called kriyamann.

If we do pious deeds according to Vedas, shastras and holy books and based on pious preaches of Rishi, Muni/learned saints then our all sanchit deeds are burnt and we can get salvation. Human beings are free in the matter of doing deeds good or bad. But result will be awarded by God. So we must worship and do pious deeds under guidance of a learned Guru. One should go always ahead for hard working, pious deeds, worship to make future bright himself. One should always work hard towards a right path.

Worship does not mean that we are free to discharge only our family duties, education, etc., but rather it is a sin. We have to get progress in both way at a time i.e., spiritualism and worldly progress i.e., science, education, duties towards family etc. God creates the universe according to His eternal law framed in Vedas which are always unchangeable and unchallengeable. So we have to follow the law of God always to get long happy life.

Destiny

Destiny means the result of deeds- good or bad, of previous life, is to be faced in present life. But, Vedas state that if a person in present life does pious deeds and worships according to Vedas and does ashtang yoga practice under guidance of learned acharya of yoga and Vedas philosophy, then destiny can be changed. Hence, God has given luck in our own hands if we follow the above worship. To become rich, as stated by you, can either be a result of previous lives’ pious deeds i.e., when we see a baby takes birth in a rich family and gets all comforts without any hardworking etc., or a person does hard working along with the effect of his previous lives’ pious deeds then he will sure get success to be a rich person. Now, we see other instances, when a person does hard deeds but always fails to be rich person due to effect of bad deeds of his previous lives. But destiny can be changed by doing pious deeds in present life.

If everything is predestined then why should we pray?

Everything is destined in the world, there is no doubt, but soul which resides in the body is immortal and we have to work hard and think of God to give the pleasure and peace to soul because it is a necessity to a soul. The said necessity is acquired by getting progresses in both ways: elementalism i.e. worldly education, science, etc. and spiritualism. So the human body is meant to utilize the worldly materials to do the hard work and Tapasya for the said two subjects to attain the salvation, which is the main motto of human body.

God is commander of the universe and is called Almighty. Almighty means God has all powers to do justice, creation, nursing, destruction and creating again.

Everybody is free to do anything in this world at his own i.e. pious deeds or sins but result is awarded by God. So we must always do pious deeds according to Vedas as told by God in the four Vedas. Anonymous: I have arranged a Hawan in my city. How many people will come and what are your fees for performing Hawan?
Swami Ramswarup: Namasteji. Hawan is the best worship of God, so it requires no fee. However, arrangement is always made by the devotee who becomes Yajmaan. Dakshina of the hawan is a donation which is given happily as per capability, please. I think, about 20-30 persons will be gathered from your city. Rest of the persons may be assembled from your side.
