Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. If mango twigs which is first choice of doing hawan is not available then sheesham, bargad, keekar or any other twig which does not generate much smoke, can be used. For example chir would generates lot of smoke and such wood should not be used in hawan. As regards, 21 herbs , these are mentioned below. Subhash: Guru Ji Parnam, I am living in Jammu and now a days I have the experience of all my desires and works are being done by Almighty. I indulge in pray for about an hour in a day. Guru Ji I have lot of experiences such as intuition mean i come to know the happenings in advance. I have no Guru what shall i do to continue the process. In this present period of time very difficult to find genuine guru Please guide me what to do, shall i continue in the absence of Guru.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. I would like to state here that God helps those who help themselves. So, no doubt, God inspires you but actually you and other hard-working people do their level best to discharge their moral duties. Vedas tell that no one should be lazy because God does not help those who are lazy. So, I admire you that you are a hard-working person and a believer of God. When the universe is created, then in non-sexual creation, there was no guru to teach human-beings. It is a fundamental law that knowledge is gained when it is given by somebody. In this connection, Patanjali Rishi in his Yog Shastra sutra 1/26 also states- “SA ESHAHA POORVESHAMAPI GURUHU KAALENANVACHCHEDAT” i.e., Almighty God is the first guru of four Rishis of non-sexual creation, from whom the knowledge of four Vedas emanates and is originated in the heart of said four Rishis. Thereafter, tradition of making gurus begins and our Rishi-Munis, who are learned of Vedas have been teaching us the spiritual path based on Vedas’ philosophy. So, in the absence of guru, tradition being eternal, no one can get peace. As regards, genuine gurus, it is clear from the above statements, the guru should be learned of Vedas and Ashtang Yoga which is also mentioned in Vedas.
