Sagar: Please tell me the meaning of the following verses:
Rigveda, Book No. 8, Hymn no. 33,Verse no. 19 and Rigveda, Book No. 10, Hymn no. 85,Verse no. 30
Swami Ram Swarup: Meaning is as under, please.

(i) Rigveda mantra 10/85/30:-
In the mantras 10/85/28 and 29, the matter of lady in periods has been described. In mantra 10/85/30 it is said “Amooya Papya” lady in periods becomes impure. So, “Ashreera” vulgar “Rushati Tanuhu Bhavati” body of the husband starts giving pain. “Yat Pateehee” if the husband “Vadhvaha Vaasasa Svam Angam Abhidhitsate” tries to touch the wife’s clothes or her.
Idea:- During the time of periods (menstrual cycle) husband should not touch his wife otherwise the body of the husband will be sick and will give grief/sorrow etc.

Rigveda 8/33/19:-
“Istree Hi Brahma Babhoovith”
The woman gets the title of Brahma in the family. The woman at her capacity states to her husband “Adhaha Pashyasva” see downwards i.e., become polite. “Upari ma” do not look upwards i.e., do not be proud. “santraam vaha Paadkau” go ahead from two feet so that you get success. “Te kashaplakau” body parts of lower side “Ma drishat” should not be naked i.e., strengthen your celibacy carefully.

Idea:- the woman is considered “Brahma”. He is ‘brahma” who knows four Vedas and presides over Yajyen. In the capacity of brahma the lady preaches the husband and others as stated in the mantra

Jogi: Namaste Swamiji, Is there anything like ‘Spirit Guide’ of everyone/sadhak. Please elaborate this thing for me?
Swami Ram Swarup: Namaste. No please there is no topic of “spirit guide” in Vedas.

Jyoti: What is the prayaschit if a fast breaks due to a woman’s natural cycle occurring suddenly?
Swami Ram Swarup: In the Vedas , shastras and others ancient holy books written by Rishis or books of present Rishis, there is no description about present type of vrat which normally is kept by ladies or man. Such vrats are not considered in Vedic spiritualism. So question of Prayashchit does not arise, please.
