Vikas: I read on your web that till the time of Mahabharata there were no temples, but in Ramayana lord Ram stablished SHIVLING at the coast of present Tamil Nadu. And as per my knowledge Rama existed way before Mahabharat. Other question is if Vedas dont promote idol worship then how will your justify SHIVLING self stablished by lord SHIVA?
Swami Ram Swarup: Learned of Vedas accept Valmiki Ramayan as authentic Ramayan about the life history of Sri Ram. In Valmiki Ramyan there is no mention about Shivling because that period was Vedic period where idol worship and avtarwad did not exist. So, Shivji maharaj was also a yogi and followed Vedic path. In the ancient holy books there is no mention about installation of Shivling by shivji himself.

Neboolal: Atharvved ke gyata kaun hai. ..
Swami Ram Swarup: Sabse pehle amaithunee srishti mein Atharvaved ka gyan Ishwar ne Angira Rishi ke hriday mein prakat kiya tha iske baad paramparagat Rishi- muniyon ne prapt kiya .

K: Pranam Guruji Guruji in the book bhagwan geeta part 4. You have mentioned about the type of food one should eat. I understand that eating non-vegetarian is a sin according to Vedas. but Krishan ji has also warned about “tatalk huh food. So does that mean that eating fried but vegetarian food like” prantha” or even “puri” too is a Sin. If so I have seen many religious functions that give such food during celebrations. Please clear this doubt.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. To take fried food is not a sin but in the old age it destroys the digestive system. So, one should avoid.

Ketan: Why sometime brahman / pandit tell us to read stotra for 11 times, in morning time. Eg. Maruti stotra. Also me time tell us to read stotra in evening time? Eg. Kalbhirav varad stotra.
Swami Ram Swarup: In Vedas, such stotra do not exist. So, learned of Vedas and yoga philosophy do not accept it. Better if a person recite Gayatri mantra with its meaning and even should do meditation with Gayatri mantra. However, everyone is free to do what he wants.
