Nikunj: Hello, as i know that idol worship is wrong. So why did Rama worship Shivling in Rameswar?
Swami Ram Swarup: Namskarji. Sri Ram never worshipped shivling as is being read in several books which are not written by Rishi- munis who are learned of Vedas and other books like Ramayan, Mahabharat, etc.
Actually, true life events of Sri Ram ji exists in Valmiki Ramayan written in contemporary period of Sri Ram. In the said Ramayan (1st Sarg) Sri Ram ji has been shown as Yogi and not avtar and Valmikiji has not stated about shivling worship. Valmiki Ramayan is authentic Ramayan as it was written by Rishi Valmiki ji who was learned of Vedas and mantra drishta. Yagyavalkya Rishi in his Shatpath Brahmin Granth states that Rishi never tells lies but human beings tell lies. So, we must read books written by Rishis and not by ordinary men to know the facts.

Yes, the soul feels sorrowful and happy when in body, according to Rigved mantra 10/135/1 every soul comes in the body, he comes to face the result of previous lives’ good or bad deeds.
After leaving body, the soul remains in sushupt stage (like in coma). So, at that time, soul feels nothing. Actually, soul experiences everything through human body and organs. When organs are dead, then soul feels nothing.
