Navin: Pranam Swamiji, Jai shree Krishna, Your answer and my question tally each other as there is vast difference between Vedas and niti sastra or puran, here I wish to add that Mahabharat, and Bhagwat are written by Ved Vyas. He must have kept his eyes open on Ved when such a master piece granth written. I am yet to be convinced that Kunti was rewarded with mantra to get child when ever she perform that mantra, ok it is his fruit of tapasia or his karma, but what about surya who can give child to kunti a unmarried lady, same with indra and aswin kumar for maitri? Bhismah was given boon that he can have his death at will, to me this puran and ved matter confuse me like any thing. there must be some truth on this type of stories, Please let me know the truth behind this type of episode? Once again pranam and jai shree krishna.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you.

Yes, please there is vast difference between Vedas and niti shastra or purann. Vedas, being eternal knowledge direct from God whereas niti shastra and purann are man made. So, I appreciate your views.

Mahabharat epic has been written by Ved Vyasji who was a great philosopher of Vedas and Ashtang Yoga Philosophy practically. You know, Bhagwad Geeta is an extract from Bheeshma Parva of Mahabharat itself. So, we can say that Bhagwad Geeta is also written by Ved Vyasji. I’ve written detailed comments on Bhagwad Geeta written by Vyasmuniji. Comments are totally based on ved mantras to make the people know the eternal truth of Vedas that Bhagwad Geeta is not a Geeta but it is a Vedic preach delivered by Yogeshwar Sri Krishna Maharaj. Somebody has taken extract of eighteen chapters of Bheeshma Parva of Mahabharat and have arranged it as independent publication. So, we now heartily accept it as “Bhagwad Geeta” but in reality it is an extract of Mahabharat. I will advice you to at least study first part consisting of 1-6 chapters of the said description (vyakhya) in Hindi with the blessings of God, I’ve quoted every shloka, explaining words and meaning and then total meaning in Hindi is given, followed by detailed idea of the shloka. The book is worth Rs. 400/- excluding postal charges. The book may be sent to you on receipt of your postal address if you desire.

I may assure you please that Ved Vyasji was a Rishi, muni, tapasvi with several divine qualities. So, he was written only 5,500 shlokas and 4,500 have been written by his disciple Gemini under his advice. I mean to say that the original shlokas of Mahabharat are only ten thousand whereas at present there are about one lakh twenty thousand shlokas incorporated. So, one lakh ten thousand shlokas are false added lately by those who want to tamper with original and real Indian culture and hence the misunderstanding. So, I would again advice you to read Mahabharat commented by Swami Jagdeeshwar Anand Saraswati available with M/s Vijay Kumar Govindram Hasanand, Nai Sadak, Delhi.

Kunti was not awarded with any mantra etc., but she was blessed by her spiritual master Rishi Durvasa. Durvasa Rishi once made a halt in the residence of Kunti’s father Prithu, who was a King. Everybody especially Kunti served the Rishi. When he was to leave the kingdom, then he blessed Kunti with the words that whenever she would like to please any Dev- Devta (alive person who is learned of Vedas philosophy and has realised God in Samadhi) he would agree to that. Problem is this that no dev-devta can be pleased by anyone.

Once, Kunti remembered Surya Devta (not the sun but an alive learned Rishi). He then agreed with Kunti and Kunti became pregnant by natural course.

Indra and Ashwini Kumar were pleased by Kunti and Madri and not Maitri, please. Once again, I would like to tell you that Surya Devta (an alive Rishi whose name was Surya) was called by Kunti and Surya was not interested in this katha. Due to the lack of knowledge of Vedas, now people can comment on this katha as they want but in the ancient times when the knowledge of Vedas was in vogue, then such events were not treated bad but were accepted heartily. Therefore birth of Karnna and his pious mother Kunti, both were respected heartily at that time and are also respected till date in learned society.

As regards Bheeshma Pitamah, again the katha is wrong. The fundamental of the Vedas to overcome the death is still applicable for all human beings.

Vedas state that he who controls the five senses, five perceptions and mind by virtue of listening to Vedas, name jaap of God, daily yajyen/hawan and hard practice of Ashtang yoga Philosophy and thus maintains his Brahamcharya hundred percent, then he becomes able to control the death i.e., he at least attains maximum age of four hundred vide Yajurveda mantra 3/62 and in between if he wants to leave the body, he leaves his body at his own. You see, every Yogi leaves his body at his own. Yogeshwar Sri Krishna Maharaj also left his body at the age of 120 years at his own. Similarly, when Bheeshma Pitamah opened the secrecy of his life before Arjun, i.e., for Arjun to kill him and accordingly when Bheeeshma Pitamah was struck by the arrows of Arjun then Bheeshma fell down and he himself decided to leave his body at his own. At that time, Bheeshma Pitamah was more than 250 years of age. Similarly Vedvyasmuni and Dronnacharya also attained long life and left their bodies at their own.

Again, my blessings to you.
