About dreams, Atharvaveda kand 16 sukta 5 throws light. Conclusion of the mantras is that one who weeps for those who have gone to heavenly abode, his age is also reduced.
Atharvaveda mantras 16/5/1,2,3 states that the dreams is the reason to create early death. Dreams is sorrowful like death. Next mantra 4 also states that dreams creates early death. Next mantra 5 states that dreams minimizes the wealth. Again, mantra states that dreams causes loss. Dreams is the reason for defeat. Atharvaveda mantra 7/100/1 states that impious dreams create sins in mind. Atharvaveda mantra 7/101/1 states that dreams are not true yet create above quoted problems. So, in several ved mantras, dreams are stated to be harmful.
The dreams are mostly false. Dreams are based on the scenes, stories listened in previous life as well as in present life. Samveda is upasana kand and tells worship for one immortal formless God, Who is Almighty, Omnipresent, Omniscient. He creates, nurses and destroys the universe and again creates, Vedas say that no one was equal to God and neither no God took birth in the past at present and will never take birth in the future too. There was one God, is one and will ever remain one. He is only everlasting eternal and unchageable king/lord of the universe. So we all must worship him only. In this connection guidance from a learned acharya of Vedas is necessary.
It is true that dreams come on the basis of the scene which we have seen in present as well as previous lives’. For example- if a person has never seen a fountain and he sees fountain in dream, it means he had seen the fountain in his previous life, the effect of which was imprinted on his chitta (mind).
Secondly, dreams are false. Dreams may give some pleasure but become painful sometimes. If a business man observes that he was a king in the dream but when he will wake up, he remains business man only and not the king. Vedas state that one should try to do worship of God to remove the occurrence of dreams in sleep.

Swami Ramswarup: My blessings to you, my daughter. Beti, yeh duniya Ishwar kee banayee hue hai aur Ishwar kabhi bhi kisi ke saath na favour karta hai aur na hee bura karta hai. Weh sirf nyaye karte hai. Matlub weh kiye karmo ka phal deta hai. Yeh jo bhi apnee bhavna mein behkar yeh keh dety hain ki hamara Ishwar se vishwas uth gaya hai is baat ko sunkar sabhi vidwan kaamp jaate hain ki jiskee prithvi par rehte hain, jiska diya khate hain, jisnein shareer diya, sab kuch diya usee par se hum apna bharosa utha lein. Yeh beti, ehsaanfaramoshi aur mahapaap hai. Asal mein baat yeh hai ki hum ved nahin suntey, Isliye Ishwar ke gunn, karma, swabhaav bilkul nahin jaante. Aur isliye paap karte hain, Ishwar se darte bhi nahin ki woh sazaa dega. Ishwar ke gunn toh kewal ved mein Ishwar ne kahe hain aur ved ko jaane bina koi Ishwar ko nahin jaan sakta ulta apne mann se banaye Ishwar kee pooja karke dukh uthata hai.
Aap sai baba ka vrat rakho, yeh aapkee apnee marzi hai lekin vedon mein sai baba ka naam nahin hai aur ved ke vidwan unhein Ishwar nahin maante. Han! Apnee marzi se koi bhi unhein Ishwar maaney, yeh uska karma hai aur karma ka phal srishti rachne wala nirakaar Parmeshwar deta hai. Doosree baat yeh ki jub koi ved jaanta nahin toh weh doosre kee khushiyan dekhkar jalega aur apne dukh bhogte hue royega. Dekho beta, Rigved mantra 10/135/1,2 mein saaf kaha ki Ishwar ne hamein yeh janam apne paap aur punya bhogne ke liye diya hai. Aap isey achhee tarah samajh lein. Kehne ka matlub hai ki Ishwar chahta hai ki hum apne paap aur punya ka phal is sharer ke dwara dukh aur sukh ke roop mein bhogein. Yeh ved na jaanne wale sadharann jan ke liye Ishwar ne niyam banaya hai. Ab agar koi dukhi hai toh weh apne pichhley karmon ke paapon ko bhog rahaa hai aur agar koi sukhi, ameer hai toh weh apne kiye pichhley punyon ko bhog rahaa hai. Yeh baat nishchit hai ki yeh sukh aur dukh Ishwar ne hamare kiye karmon ka phal diya hai. To hum Zabardasti mein kyun ussey sukh maangte hain. Humne aisa kya punnya kar diya ki hum ussey sukh maangey aur jub weh apney nyaye par sthir rehkar hamaree baat nahin sunta, hamein hamare karmon ka phal dukh deta hai toh hum uskee shakti, nyaye ko na janane ke karann uspar gussa jaatate hain aur kehte hain bharosa uth gaya. Yeh Uchit nahin hai.
Doosree baat agar aapne Yajurved ka gyan samajha hota toh Yajurved yeh keh raha hai ki marriage se pehle ladka ya ladki na toh ek doosrey ka sparsh karein na dil dein. Ab is niyam ko na jaanane ke karann hazaron ladkiyon ka bhavishya kharab ho chukka hai. Yeh bhi toh apnee hee galti hai hum Ishwar ko kyun dosh dein? Han! Yeh alag baat hai ki us ladke par tumne vishwas kiya par usney tumhein dhoka diya, toh yeh dhoka dena uska paap hai. Parantu Rigved ke niyam ke anusaar is paap ka phal ussey is janam mein nahin milega, agley janam mein milega aur aisey hee weh jo badon ko galiyan dey rahaa hai is paap ka phal bhi agley janam mein milega. Koi Ishwar ke nyaye se bach nahin pataa. Niyamon ko na jaanane ke karann aap dukhi hain. Isliye beta sub pareshani chod, pichhla bhoolo, aagey koi galati na karna, shubh karmon mein dhyan lagao aur vedon ke anusaar ek Nirakaar, Sarvavyapak srishti rachna wala Parmeshwar hai, ussee kee pooja kee jaati hai.
