Anonymous: Respected, I came across an article. That article contains quotations from the Vedas and related scriptures related to black magic.
1. Does the Vedas and related scriptures mention black magic?
2. Does the Vedas and related scriptures mention white magic?
Thank you very much for the explanation.
All the best
Swami Ram Swarup: Dear son, Vedas do not promote either black magic or white magic. In fact Vedas are the knowledge of whole world and Almighty God. Above quoted magic do not exist in Vedas, hence false. My blessings to you for a long happy life.
Anonymous: Respected, I came across an article that said that Hindu scriptures predominantly emphasize the importance of having sons, with several verses and dedicated hymns praying for their birth. Sons are often associated with saving the father from the hell called “Put,” earning them the name “Putra” (Son).
Swami Ram Swarup: It is all nonsense and false statement. Suppose mothers start giving birth to sons only then sure one day the earth would be empty of human beings. So, we must not go against the pious and everlasting views of God where He provide us with male and female progeny. It is also submitted that in Vedas such false views of giving birth only to sons does not exist.
Anonymous: On the other hand, daughters are referred to as “Duhita,” which means “one who does bad.
Swami Ram Swarup: This is also a false, illusionary statement that girl only does bad deeds. Here, those people why forget the most respected women like Mata Sita, Draupadi, Madalasa, Janak acharya bal brahamcharini and learned of Vedas, Gargi and several others.
Anonymous: Hindu rituals, such as Pumsavan Sanskar, are performed specifically for the birth of a son.
Swami Ram Swarup: This is also a false and baseless interpretation that Punswan Sanskar is performed for getting birth of son. Punswan Sanskar is performed in second month pregnancy for safe delivery either of son or daughter. Here it is to be learned that result of pregnancy is in the power of almighty God and not men/women.
Anonymous: Is it mentioned in Grihya Sutras, Sankhayana Grihya Sutra 1.19.6Pragapati has created him, Savitar has shaped him. Imparting birth of females to other (women) may he put here a man…
Swami Ram Swarup: It is also not authentic statement in Grihya Sutra.
Anonymous: 1. Do the Vedas and related scriptures mention only the birth of male children?
2. How come there are no prayers in the Vedas and related scriptures that bless the birth of female children but only blessings for the birth of male children?
3. Why is the birth of female children discriminated against in the Vedas and related scriptures?
4. Do the Vedas and related scriptures allow female infanticide?
Thank you very much for the explanation.
Swami Ram Swarup: So, all above quoted views /statements are false being against the Vedas.
