Seeker: Respected Guruji, By what age of the child, the parents should start imparting the knowledge of brahmcharya to the children and HOW? Nowadays, it is not always possible for all parents to reach to Guruji. So, what is the practical way of teaching? Regards.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. The Brahmacharya process starts from the early age i.e., 6 years of age when Upnayan and Vedarambh sanskar are performed for the child and in the absence of learned acharya, the said pious, religious function cannot be completed.
Secondly, the Brahmacharya teachings are also mentioned in Vedas. So, only parents cannot educate their child until they themselves know the Vedic teachings. In view of above facts, you are advised to please conduct Upnayan and Vedarambh sanskars of your child under the supervision of learned acharya of Vedas.
Secondly, I’ve written a book on Brahmacharya in Hindi based on Vedic philosophy which can be sent to you if you desire. The name of the book is BRAHAMCHARYA DUKH NIVARAK DIVYA MANNI. Singh: Pratah vandaniya parampujya Guru Maharaj ji ko sashtang pranam. Maharaj ji, at present I am practising ashtang yog as guided by you regularly daily in the morning and in the evening(sometimes irregular) as follows :- 80 lom vilom (7 to 11 Minutes) and 11 nadi shudhi pranayam (5 to 7 minutes). Vajrasan (5 to 10m), Uttanpadasan, Pavanmuktasan, Bhujangasan, Tiddasan, Paschimottasan and also by studying your books, practising Dhanurasan, Brahmcharyasan and Padmasan(21 to 25m while doing pranayam). In addition I am doing Gomukhasan and Ardhmatsyendrasan which should be done or not, please guide me. I sit in siddhasan mostly and name jap. Further please guide me if somebody asks me to perform Havan at his home, it may be carried out or not and may be beneficial to him and me. Please also guide me if my family members who are your disciples also asks me about the asan and pranayam which have been guided by you, may be told them or not.
