S C: Pranama Guruji, I have been doing Gayatri Japa everyday in the form of Sandyavandhanam. I do about 200 Gayatri everyday. It has tremendously helped me to improve my health and retentive power. Please suggest me what is the required number of Gayatri Japa one should do everyday to strengthen his spirituality. But I am having this problem where my mind comes with brilliant ideas however it gets clouded when it comes to execution. It makes me lazy, and sometimes make me to get vairagya kind of attitude. However, I strongly feel I have to do something great so that I people can get encouragement to follow Sanathana Dharma. Please give your valuable suggestion to
i). TO increase the productivity and shun laziness
ii). Control Mind to work harder.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. I appreciate that you do Gayatri jaap everyday along with its meaning, because meaning helps a lot. Secondly, if you also start daily hawan with Gayatri mantra then you’ll sure get more and more benefits. Thereafter, one should try to do daily hawan with ved mantras (sandhya mantra). I’ve written a book on daily hawan named Yajya Karma Sarvashreshtha Ishwar Pooja (in Hindi). Vedas also tell that one should wake up early in the morning and after doing jaap and meditation, morning walk and light exercise is also a necessity, for improvement of health.

Sanatan means eternal and everlasting. The ancient as well as present learned of Vedas have preached that to follow Vedic path, is a Sanatan path.

Further, to control mind, one should learn to do asan and prannayam and meditation. Then, he’ll be able to concentrate more and more. I also paste my article in this regard:-

STUDENT LOSING CONCENTRATION

Concentration is not made on mind, but mind has to be concentrated on particular point or subject etc. It requires practice of Yam, Niyam, Asan, Pranayaam, Pratyahar, Dharnna and Dhyan then one attains Samadhi. In this path, guidance of a spiritual master who knows Vedas and Ashtang Yoga philosophy is needed. Holy name jaap of God helps a lot. I have written a book on Yoga which can be sent on receipt of your postal address. However, personal guidance as stated is essential. It is a moral duty of a student to concentrate on hard study and to look after his health. Avoid bad society always concentrate on your Brahamcharya. Awake early in the morning and after bath-brush etc., do holy name jaap of God at least for fifteen minutes. Go for morning walk and light exercises daily. Take plenty of water i.e., 15-20 glass in a day. Always respect your parents, elders and teachers. Must be soft spoken, Avoid TV to see bad scenes, films etc. This all will help you to concentrate in you study. Whatever, you study and learn, try to write on rough book a lot without seeing books etc. Please refer to the book- “Brahamcharya-Dukh Nivarak Divya Mani”.

Duty of the student

In every field duty is the most important deed but moral duties are discharged only when hard efforts are done. Otherwise, efforts will be of no use if the person is not aware of the duties entrusted to him by God, society and parents etc. So, please note that it is a moral duty of a student not to be nervous and pay his full attention to his study. Attention would also be of no use if hard-efforts of daily study are not made. Mostly, weak students start thinking that the study, questions, problems etc., are difficult and he would not be able to solve. Then he becomes nervous. This shows his laziness and forgetting his moral duties. So, all students must be aware of their moral duties like paying attention towards their daily study. If any question or problem cannot be solved or any subject seems to be difficult then he should take more interest on the same, doing hard practice daily. First of all, he should take great pain and interest to overcome difficulty and nervousness, if still his practice goes in vain then he should take assistance of any teacher, lecturer or professor who will sure help him. To become nervous, is student’s blunder mistake and great sin which make his/her future dark and is cursed by all. Such students also waste the hard earned money of the parents and shatter all their dreams.

Shubh Karma

Hard working, devotion, dedication, honesty, services to the parents and elders to follow eternal religion mentioned in Vedas, practice of Ashtang Yoga, discharging moral duties to get progress in education, science simultaneously with spiritualism like, daily havan, to be in contact with the learned Acharya, to get his advice, are some of the pious deeds which make the future bright and obliterate the sorrows, problems, diseases, etc.

One must wake up early in the morning for early morning walk and exercises, must sit on meditation and chant holy name of God, must be away from any addiction and non-vegetarian. Such pious actions lead to long, happy life and bright future.

J P Singh: Param pujya swamiji sashtang pranam. I want to know that you have told the location of soul at left eye, throught and heart is mentioned in Vedas or anywhere. Many many thanks to you for getting the vedic knowledge through question and answer.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. The existence of the soul is very well mentioned in Mandookopnishad.
