D: Guruji charan sparsh. In Ved books there is mention about Indra. So should we perform puja of Indra Bhagwan?
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. There are several meanings of a word in Vedas but which is the correct meaning according to the specific ved mantra, it is decided by a learned acharya who knows Vedas. For example- In Sanskrit, “Payas” means water and “Payas” means milk also. So according to the situation, where the actual meaning will be considered, it is known by a learned person only and not an ordinary person. If the master of the house is taking lunch and he asks his servant to bring “Payas” then according to situation water is to be given and not milk. Similarly, Indra means Yogi, electric discharge in sky (Vidyut) and Almighty God also. If in a ved mantra, it is said Indra creates the universe, then the meaning of Indra will be Almighty God. If in a mantra, it is stated- “Indra Sompeetaye” i.e., Indra realises divine pleasure then the meaning of Indra is Yogi. If Indra is used in context of thirty-three non-alive devtas then its meaning
will be electric discharge in sky (Vidyut). However, Vedas tell to worship only a formless, omnipresent, Almighty God who creates, nurses and destroys the universe.

Dinesh Kumar: Kindly explain the relevance of Navratris and what according to you is the proper way of puja/meditation during these nine days?
Swami Ram Swarup: The period of navratris falls when season gets changed. During the navratris, tapasvis, yogis, worshippers arrange special worship of God. Those who know Vedas, they start hard practice of ashtang Yoga, when winter starts.

Satej: Do meditators have this experience in meditation that the direction of the meditator changes when he wakes up from his meditative trance trance? That is, if the meditator sits facing East before meditation ; when he wakes up from his meditation he body gets a little tilted in other direction?
Swami Ram Swarup: Yes, if somebody doing practice of Yoga philosophy continuously for a long time and has attained good concentration then change in asan is possible, please.

S K: I want to know about my marriage and government job.
Swami Ram Swarup: Actually, all this is in the hands of Almighty God, please. Though, some astrologers, tantriks etc., also tell about the future but this is not mentioned in Vedas, please. So, learneds do not believe in this please. However, God helps those who help themselves. So, your parents must do hard task to seek a suitable match and you must do hard task to seek suitable job. God will help you.

Liberlike: When a close family member passes away, for the 13 days the families do not light the diya in their respective homes, nor can they attend puja’s and satsangs at the mandirs. Why?
Swami Ram Swarup: Such process has not been mentioned in the Vedas instead Vedas tell that when death occurs, soon on the same day agnihotra must be performed and daily havan/worship should be done.

R K S: Facing money problems.
Swami Ram Swarup: Money problem can be solved by doing hard working to earn more money and to minimize the requirements also.

Usha: Respected Swamiji, A person acts as his brain works. A healthy brain has a healthy mind as well. He gets good concentration in his work. And an unhealthy person might not be as successful because of his lack of concentration, which is strongly related to his ill-health. Clear thinking is very difficult with a weak mind And with death both body and brain is gone. In his next birth he gets a different body with which he starts from the beginning. Now who is responsible for his actions? Is he not really innocent?
Swami Ram Swarup: Yes, person acts according to his brain’s act. Healthy brain and healthy mind is given by God based on the previous pious deeds of a person and naturally the person will attain good concentration in his work.

Unhealthy person is facing the result of his previous’ lives’ bad deeds. So, it does not involve his being innocent. Everyone has taken birth to face his previous lives’ deeds, good or bad and accordingly, he feels pleasure and sorrows. However, the effect of sins, bad deeds can be destroyed in the present human life by following the eternal path of Vedas. Whatever the person does good or bad deeds in his present life, he will have to face the result in next lives. So, human beings have to face their own deeds. So, question of being innocence does not arise. I also paste my article on Karmas’ Philosophy.

Three types of Deeds

There are three types of deeds (karmas) – sanchit, prarabhadh and kriyamann. Suppose one soul has to take birth (body). It means he has to face total number of deeds of his all previous lives and these deeds are called sanchit karmas but sanchit deeds are huge/unlimited and cannot be faced in one life. So the karmas which can be faced in one life are called prarabhadh (luck-destiny). So God has not made our luck at His own but Almighty God has taken the deeds which we have already done.

Yajurveda mantra 7/48 clarifies that human being is free to do any deed good or bad but God only awards the result. Now the balance deeds from sanchit deeds will be counted in the next life. Now the deeds which we do in our day today present life are called kriyamann.

If we do pious deeds according to Vedas, shastras and holy books and based on pious preaches of Rishi, Muni/learned saints then our all sanchit deeds are burnt and we can get salvation. Human beings are free in the matter of doing deeds good or bad. But result will be awarded by God. So we must worship and do pious deeds under guidance of a learned Guru. One should go always ahead for hard working, pious deeds, worship to make future bright himself. One should always work hard towards a right path.

Worship does not mean that we are free to discharge only our family duties, education, etc., but rather it is a sin. We have to get progress in both way at a time i.e., spiritualism and worldly progress i.e., science, education, duties towards family etc. God creates the universe according to His eternal law framed in Vedas which are always unchangeable and unchallengeable. So we have to follow the law of God always to get long happy life.
