Arvind: Guruji Seek your intervention Guruji, I need your assistance for one of my request on ” wearing Rudrakasha” Basically i am teacher who teaches Business administration @ MBA college and i am greatly influenced by spirituality since chiropody. Guruji i have been wearing rudrakasha since 5-7 months (not actively) on my wrist. i should admit i am not sincere enough to understand the importance of the same as I follow some rituals after wearing it (got information from Internet). I really feel very incomplete when i leave at home and many-many things happens in between and I wont consider its importance. Please guide me as how should and sincerely take care of it as i wear panchamukh rudrakasha given by one of our temple purohit. Can I wear it on wrist? What are the major consideration i should follow after I wear? Please guide me. Have a Great Day Ahead!! Regards.
Swami Ram Swarup: A study of four Vedas, six shastras, upnishads and other holy granths reveals that rudraraksh metal to wear has not been mentioned therein. We all pass our time based on our previous life’s deeds good and bad in the shape of happiness and sorrows respectively. The karma (deeds) philosophy has been mentioned in the Vedas which is unchangeable, so wearing of rudraraksh will do nothing in the matter of experiencing the result of our previous life’s deeds. In Vedas, it is preached that all the human-beings must do worship of only one, formless, omnipresent God who creates, nurses and destoroys the universe. As regards, Karma theory, I paste my article below-

Three types of Deeds

There are three types of deeds (karmas) – sanchit, prarabhadh and kriyamann. Suppose one soul has to take birth (body). It means he has to face total number of deeds of his all previous lives and these deeds are called sanchit karmas but sanchit deeds are huge/unlimited and cannot be faced in one life. So the karmas which can be faced in one life are called prarabhadh (luck-destiny). So God has not made our luck at His own but Almighty God has considered the deeds which we have already done.

Yajurveda mantra 7/48 clarifies that human being is free to do any deed good or bad but God only awards the result. Now the balance deeds from sanchit deeds will be counted in the next life. Now the deeds which we do in our day today present life are called kriyamann.

If we do pious deeds according to Vedas, shastras and holy books and based on pious preaches of Rishi, Muni/learned saints then our all sanchit deeds are burnt and we can get salvation. Human beings are free in the matter of doing deeds good or bad. But result will be awarded by God. So we must worship and do pious deeds under guidance of a learned Guru. One should go always ahead for hard working, pious deeds, worship to make future bright himself. One should always work hard towards a right path.

Worship does not mean that we are free to discharge only our family duties, education, etc., but rather it is a sin. We have to get progress in both waysimultaneously i.e., spiritualism and worldly progress i.e., science, education, duties towards family etc. God creates the universe according to His eternal law framed in Vedas which are always unchangeable and unchallengeable. So we have to follow the law of God always to get long happy life.

Ashwin: Swamiji, my pranams to you. Here are my questions:
1.What do Vedas say about martial arts training during Brahmacharya?Because it serves several purposes especially for today’s youth.

2.Can you please state the shlokas of Valimiki Ramayan of the descriptions of the planes used by Hanumanji or Vibheeshan or Ravan?

3.You mentioned the history of Diwali in some other query. However in my family, there is a belief that only Shri Krishna killed some Narakasur thats why people celebrate the victory of Krishna as Diwali.

4.Did Shri Krishna mention anything about Shri Rama in the authentic verses of Mahabharata?

5.In Valimiki Ramayan,if Vibheeshan arrived India before Rama crossed the ocean by some vimana, why didn’t Rama use that same vimana to reach Lanka or any other vanar’s vimana to reach Lanka? Why they built the setu to reach Lanka?

6.In Mahabharata, did Shri Krishna order Yudhishtir tot tell a lie to Dronacharya by which he stopped fighting? Thank you.
Swami Ram Swarup: 1.) Yes, during Brahmacharya one should do daily exercise and marshal arts training can also be learnt.
2.) Hanumanji used small aircraft of Sugreev to cross the sea to reach in Lanka to search the Mata Sita. In this connection, Valmiki Ramayan Sundarkand shloka 1-3 refers.
3.) I have not listened or read about the incidents about killing of some narakasur by Sri Krishna Maharajji and that is why, people celebrate victory of Sri Krishna as Diwali. I have written an article about Diwali and can be sent on receipt of your postal address if you desire.
4.) Sri Krishna Maharaj has not mentioned anything about Sri Ram in the authentic verses of mahabharat epic.
5.) You know that Sri Ram went to forest for fourteen years. Therefore, he had to live there without taking any facilities. So, Sri Ram did not ask Bharat any kind of help like army etc.
6.) Yes, Sri Krishna Maharaj requested Yudhisthir to tell a lie to Dronnacharya that his (Dronnacharya’s) son Ashvathama has been killed. Yudhisthir denied first but after some dicussions, it was decided that Yudhisthir would start saying, “Ashvathama mara gaya lekin woh hathi tha”( Ashvathama has been killed but he was an elephant). When Yudhishthir told and started the said wording, Sri Krishna maharaj managed to play on drum and generate noise before starting the words “lekin woh hathi tha”. So, Dronnacharyaji only listened the wordings that Ashvarthama has been killed and in the acute noise, he could not able to listen that he was an elephant. Dronnacharyaji then immediately thrown the weapons from his hands and soon he was killed. This is for your information that to establish the truth, false statement can be given.

Ashwin: Swamiji,my pranams to you. I read somewhere in an article that the contents of YV, RV, SV and AV are cyclic in nature and that they are complimentary to each other. Is it so?Also,I want several mantras’ meanings for about 50 mantras. Can I specify the verse numbers. Also please inform me whether I am bothering you too much by asking questions continuously. Thank you.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. Yes, in all four Vedas, mantra’s are cyclic in nature. But, in all mantra’s complimentary system does not exist. There are few occasion of the said system. As regards, meaning of about fifty Ved mantra’s, you can quote it and I will try to write meaning there. No question of bothering, please. The task will be lengthy. So, it would take some time. Please, also inform whether you need Hindi translation or English.
