Vishwanath: Differences between Atma and mann.
Swami Ram Swarup: Mann is made of non-alive matter prakriti whereas atma (soul) is
not made from any matter. Atma resides in human body and God blesses the atma with human body, five senses, five perceptions and antahkarann consisting of mann buddhi, chitta, ahankar. Atma through buddhi and mann receives worldly information and givers order to do the deeds through buddhi and mann. Mann-buddhi, chhitaa ahankar and all senses including karma-indriyan and human-body are made of non-alive matter prakriti but act like an alive matter till the time soul resides within body.

P: I belong to bihar of bhardwaj gotra. Can I marry my paternal sister’s son who is brahmin (sandiliya gotra)? Does Ved and Hinduism (sanatan dharm) allow this?
Swami Ram Swarup: According to Rigveda, marriage cannot be performed within seven
generations.
