Amit Dua: Namaste Swamiji, I have some questions regarding destiny and karma. Does destiny exist? If yes than what is its role in our lives? If a person does hard and intelligent efforts in his or her profession and become rich, is it the result of his or her hard work or the result of the good karmas of previous births?

Amit Dua: Namaste Swamiji, I have some questions regarding destiny and karma. Does destiny exist? If yes than what is its role in our lives? If a person does hard and intelligent efforts in his or her profession and become rich, is it the result of his or her hard work or the result of the good karmas of previous births?
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. Destiny means the result of deeds- good or bad, of previous life, is to be faced in present life. But, Vedas state that if a person in present life does pious deeds and worships according to Vedas and does ashtang yoga practice under guidance of learned acharya of yoga and Vedas philosophy, then destiny can be changed. Hence, God has given luck in our own hands if we follow the above worship. To become rich, as stated by you, can either be a result of previous lives’ pious deeds i.e., when we see a baby takes birth in a rich family and gets all comforts without any hardworking etc., or a person does hard working along with the effect of his previous lives’ pious deeds then he will sure get success to be a rich person. Now, we see other instances, when a person does hard deeds but always fails to be rich person due to effect of bad deeds of his previous lives. But destiny can be changed by doing pious deeds in present life.

Satish NS: Swamiji, pranam, I shall be grateful if you could let me know if you could email me the meaning given in the 4 Vedas in English, since I can’t read Sanskrit nor do I understand. But I have an urge to know what is written in the different Vedas and there true meanings. Also I would like to know of the different Puranas and Upanishads. Shall always remain grateful.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. To write the meaning of four Vedas in English is such a lengthy job that it can’t be finished even within further five-eight years. So, in short I shall try to let you know about four Vedas separately through postal services. You are also advised to read the books based on Vedas (list given on the website), which shall make you understand the basic knowledge regarding Vedas and immensely enhance your knowledge regarding Vedas.

E R M: Who is my husband?
Swami Ram Swarup: Husband is either chosen by parents or by oneself. However, no doubt, it also depends in the hands of God to mature the marriage. Please pray to God for the same and he will sure listen.

T C: What is my future in marriage and career?
Swami Ram Swarup: It is all in the hands of God. But God helps those who help themselves. So, please work hard to make the career the best and your parents must do the needful to seek a suitable match. Then God will help.

Ratinder Kaur: Pranaam! Charan sparh Swami ji, I want to know about “sharan” and “sharnagati”. How do we get to know whether we are in His sharan? Is it that when one is in Sharan of God, it depends on God to give the devotee sharnagatee or the devotee has to work for it?
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you for a long happy life. Sharann means shelter i.e., when a person feels that Almighty God is the supreme judge and all pleasures/happiness, even sources to live upon are donated by Him, when we worship Him. Secondly, the God only has the power to destroy our sins and He only solves our problems etc. Then the devotee makes contact with a learned acharya of Vedas and Yoga philosophy/learned saint and gets his advice of worship and takes deeksha then he perfectly believes in God and starts eternal worship. This is called ‘sharann’ i.e., shelter of God. When the said devotee listens to the preach, devotes time for daily worship as advised by his acharya then he may attain salvation which is called “Sharannagati”, i.e., those who take shelter, they attain salvation.

A: Parnam guru ji. I am Sikh girl I want to do path in the morning, but because I am not feeling well and being working, I missed it many times. mera dhyan bhi path nahi lakta aap batiya maa kya kru. I want to be devoted towards God. Kindly bless me and tell me what I should do? I want moksh.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. We all human beings must know that God has blessed us with human body only to worship and get salvation (moksha). To attain the same- food, clothing, shelter and wealth are required. Therefore, we have to work hard for earning and also discharge our family duties like taking care of children etc. So while discharging our moral duties, we should never forget to devote time to worship God daily, both times. Hence, no excuse, please. Please try to do your path daily irrespective of the fact that you can concentrate over it or not. Because one day, you will be able to gain concentration. Vedas are not sects. So, a person irrespective of the sect to which he belongs, must also try to do at least asans, pranayaam and name jaap of God, both times, daily.

Gurubanni, already states, “Naam Japat Koti Soor Ujala” i.e., He who does daily name jaap of God, he realises God in the shape of light. The light generates within him as if crores of sun have arisen. You may send your problem frequently to solve the same and gain more and more knowledge.

Reema: Is it possible to do a havan without fire? I am in united states and where I stay I am not allowed to even burn an incense stick.
Swami Ram Swarup: Yes, no doubt. There is a problem to do havan in burning fire. Yet, I will advise you to do havan outside the home i.e., in lawn/garden, places which are open to sky.

V: At work, I am facing a lot of harassment from my boss. Her speech is full of insults. I pray to God to open her eyes & destroy her. Kindly advise what to do. Is there any mantra to destroy her?
Swami Ram Swarup: I understand your problem. But, when there is a will, there is a way. So, to overcome the problem, one party will have to keep silent, please. I would therefore advise to listen to your boss’s talk but never pay attention on her insulting or talk full of egoism. We must not forget that other person could also have some personal problems, based on which he/she shouts and insults others and thus misuses her power. My son, listen carefully that God does not permit to hate others. Otherwise, the person who hates is also doing sins and faces the consequences. So please avoid hating her. Secondly, there is a saying in shastras that- “Paapi Sva papyen Vinushyati” i.e., a sinner is destroyed due to his own sins and therefore need not to do anything against him. Your principal may also be a patient of blood pressure, so avoid her completely but do not desire anything bad to happen to her.

Pankaj: Sir, as per your advice I have started Yajyen twice a week (Saturday And Sunday) in day time as I can’t do because I leave house at 6.30AM and came back at 9 or 9.30PM and use to chant gayatri mantra only is that ok? I am not getting peace despite working hard.
Swami Ram Swarup: Not only I but God would also appreciate your pious deed of performing hawan even on Saturday and Sunday. In addition it is also a pious deed that you chant Gayatri mantra two times. Actually you must chant Gayatri mantra in mind whole day whenever you get time either in home or in office. However in home you should chant while sitting on an asan. You should also include your parents to do hawan and chanting of Gayatri mantra, if possible. One must know that the said deed is a worship of God which has been mentioned in Vedas. One day it will give you all pleasure/happiness.

P: I am married and take care of parents. My wife hardly stays in house and has no regard for family.
Swami Ram Swarup: First of all, I thank you and thereafter I appreciate your views to look after your parents, being a good son. Otherwise, I have been observing that several sons have left their aged parents due to the affection with their wives/children, which is a grave sin. Parents have given birth to sons, have nursed them during their childhood, that is why Vedas state to serve the parents in old age, in return.

Other wife can be obtained in case first wife is characterless, creates, quarrels, ignores in-laws, does not take care of her husband but another mother-father cannot be obtained. So, I appreciate your decision and your decision will sure give you peace in life and make your life long and happy. My blessings will always remain with you. Please, try to serve your parents regularly. I may tell you the fact of Vedas that every happiness, pleasure of the world can only be obtained by serving the parents but not wife. I mean to say, not that wife of the above quoted category. Now, you may send the message to your wife either to change her habit and come back otherwise prepare yourself for divorce. Atharvaveda mantra 1/14/1 states that a wife should remain in her husband’s house like a mountain stands firmly on ground i.e., she should make herself busy in household duties that she has no time to go out of the house baselessly but in your case, she is always found sitting in the neighbour’s house which is totally against the Vedas and what to say about your kind-heart that you excuse her.

R D: I was told that my child is Manglik.
Swami Ram Swarup:To know the truth our ancient Rishis have advised to tally the matter with Vedas. Since in Vedas there is no mention of word manglik so you need not to worry. The people who are not manglik are also suffering from the problems mentioned by normal married people. Shri Ram married Sita after breaking the bow. And nobody saw Shri Ram’s teva or anything. In Mahabharat Yudhisthir married Draupadi by piercing arrow in the eye of a fish (the eye was pierced by Arjuna the younger brother of Yudhisthir) and there was no teva and manglik etc. Savitri married Satyavan at her own wish without any teva or manglik etc. Pandu married Kunti and Madri without teva or manglik etc. Teva means janam patri made by pandit i.e., horoscope.

According to Vedas these are not required and are self-made story. So please do not worry about manglik etc. Future is based on pious deeds, hard working towards a right path and God helps those who help themselves.

Alvin Lal: Delay in receiving answers.
Swami Ram Swarup: My heartiest blessings to you and really no matter of apologies. Usually, I minimize my tour of going out of ashram yet lovers of Vedas and Yajyen when heartily invite then I am bound to go and perform Yajyen. But every reader, lover must be assured that I shall always remain faithful to serve them.

Raj Bhalla: Parnam Swami Ji, I do not feel good sitting on a woollen blanket while doing mediatation. The reason is, the blanket is made by killing goats and sheeps for food and then they sell their skin for some more profits. So by buying these products, we are encouraging them to kill more. May be some other insulating material can be used to sit on. Same is true when we wear woollen sweaters and pants. Please advise.
Swami Ram Swarup: Dear Bhalla ji, My blessings to you. If so then you may avoid woollen blanket. You may use kushasan if available there or chatai (mat) on the ground. On the chatai (mat) cotton quilt and thereafter on cotton quilt, cotton bed sheet can be put. Purpose of chatai, cotton sheet etc., is to break the earthing of electricity/heat generated in the body while doing asan, prannayam and meditation, chatai being bad conductor of heat. However, as far as my knowledge is concerned, the wool is taken from alive sheep etc. if it is taken from dead one also, then we all must avoid the use of such clothes, blanket, etc.

Raj Bhalla: Parnam Swami Ji, can you please explain what special mantras should be recited during Mundan ceremony? Also at what point in the Havan these should be recited. While cutting the hair, what should be recited?
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you.
Following are the mantras which are to be uttered while performing mundan ceremony.
(1) Atharvaveda mantra 6/68/1
(2) Atharvaveda mantra 6/68/2
(3) Yajurveda mantra 3/63
(4) Atharvaveda mantra 6/68/3
(5) Yajurveda mantra 3/62
First of all a complete Yajyen chanting Savastivachan and Shantikaran mantras and sandhya mantras etc., must be performed and thereafter the above quoted mantras should be chanted and aahuti offered in burning pious fire(agni).

Arya Samaj being needed their by your good self or anyone may organize a continuous Yajyen for at least 15 days to know about all the 16 sanskars , to educate the new generation as well.

If nobody is available then I may try to come there. My USA visa for 10 years is already with me. Arya Samaj only has to send an invitation letter to perform Yajyen.

Books written by me have been printed totally based on Vedas, knowledge of which may be spread to enhance the knowledge of Vedas among people.

While cutting the hair, mantra number mentioned at serial 4, 5 are to be recited.
Note:- The full procedure requires more attention and elaboration but this being a lengthy process, can’t be explained here. You may send your postal address again, to send the procedure again.

Raj Bhalla: Swami Ji Parnam You have stated that God created the universe and then He entered into it. I do not understand the meaning of entering. He is already present in the space he is trying to enter. So there should be no entering. Please clarify.
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. At the time of final destruction of universe, every materialistic article of the universe is destroyed and turned into the shape of Prakriti. So, during the lengthy period of final destruction (Pralaye) only three matters remain- Almighty God (who is one and shall ever remain one), souls who are unlimited in number, alive and are devoid of any living body, non-alive Prakriti. Rigveda states that souls and Prakriti get shelter within God. Then at a stipulated time, process of creation begins as usual.

A small fraction of God’s power acts in non-alive Prakriti and all the non-alive matters of the universe are made. No matter like atmosphere, trees, bodies of living beings starts functioning, in the absence of Almighty God. In the end, Almighty God, due to the eternal nature of being omnipresent enters the universe and the function of creation starts .this point of entering is also stated in Tetieriyopnishad shloka:
“TAT SRISHTVA TADANU PRAVISHAT”
i.e., the God creates the universe and enters into it.
Aur Us Parmeshwar Ne Srishti Rachi Aur Rachne ke Baad Us Mein Samma Gaya.
So the meaning of entering is pravesh kar gaya athava samaa gaya . So, before the creation, God was not in the space because space was not there. Since the space was existing in the shape of Prakriti. If Almighty God had been present already in the space then there was no question of entering. First, Almighty God creates space, sky and each matter of universe and then He enters.
