Deepak: SWAMIJI CHARAN SPARSH ONE OF MY FRIEND was saying he follow guruji , who gave him guru mantra, which I personally feel against of Veds, still he was saying that he see om in sky and trishul in sky, and while he just chant that mantra he start getting too much vibrations and go in samadhi, I explained him about Ved , havan etc. he said that this is only first stage, in finally one have to go in thoughtless state, please can you explain I will send your mail to him ,, thanks very much
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you.

Yes, my son, there are several gurus, who give guru mantra and ask the disciple to follow them (those gurus) only, which is also against the Vedas. We see that Sri Ram was the disciple of guru Vashishthji. From him, Sri Ram learnt Vedas knowledge, name jaap, yajyen and practice of Ashtang yoga. But, Sri Ram was not prohibited from visiting other Rishi-Munis. Sri Ram rendered services to other Rishi-Munis also like Vishwamitraji, Agastya Rishi, Atri Rishi etc. The said tradition was in vogue uptil Mahabharata time, After Mahabharata War, the knowledge of Vedas started diminishing/declining due to one or the other reason. Then, the people started their own path of worship against the Vedas as is also mentioned by Tulsidasji in his chowpayee.

“SHRUTI SAMMAT HARI BHAKTI PATH SANJUT BIRATI BIBEK.

TEHIN NA CHALHIN NAR MOH BAS, KALPANHIN PANTH ANEK.”

Meaning: Tulsi states that there is an eternal worship based on Vedas, which gives us asceticism and factual knowledge but the people are not following the path of Vedas due to attachment (attachment with materialistic pomp and show, family, etc.) and people make their own several paths of worship. So those who are not able to understand Vedas, they may continue their own path, so is the case of sects, please.

I mean to say everyone is now free to speak out his own views but the constitution of the universe made by God comprises of four Vedas. As a proof, I quote here Yog Shastra Sutra 1/7 and Sankhya Shastra Sutra 1/66 where in the Rishis state that to reach at true conclusion/truth proof of ved mantras is required. For example – I say that God is Formless, somebody says that He is not formless then discussion in loving manner should be arranged and the speaker must give the proof of ved mantras to clarify his views. If proof of ved mantra is not given then thought/views are not accepted by learned of Vedas/acharyas being against the Vedas.

So, let them follow their own path but it is sure that such path has not been mentioned in Vedas. Rigveda mantra 1/164/45 clearly states that the acharya should have the knowledge of four Vedas and ashtang Yoga Philosophy. Samadhi is attained after doing hard practice of Ashtang Yoga, as mentioned in Yog shastra sutra 4/29, 30, 31. No other way, say Vedas.

But, if he insists to follow his own path then let him go ahead. Sri Ram, Sri Krishna maharaj and Rishi-Munis started listening to Vedas, doing yajyen and practice of Ashtang Yoga right from the beginning till the time of death. Therefore, the havan and the Vedas are the first and the last stage of gaining knowledge, doing pious deeds and worship of God.

Mitesh: Pranaam Guruji, I read your answers carefully and you told that God never take birth but In Bhagwat Gita Shri Krishna declare himself a god,“Whenever, O descendant of Bharata, righteousness declines and unrighteousness prevails, I manifest Myself. For the protection of the righteous and the destruction of the wicked, and for the establishment of religion, I come into being from age to age.” How can?. you also said that Shiv is a yogi and equivalent to God then what you say about Krishna? How God take birth?
Swami Ram Swarup: My blessings to you. Yogeshwar Sri Krishna Maharaj has never declared himself a God in Bhagwad Geeta. Sri Krishna maharaj was a learned of Vedas and this fact has been stated by him several times in Geeta’s shlokas. Preach of Krishna is based on vedic philosophy. Therefore, to know the fact of Bhagwad Geeta, one will have to listen/study Vedas first, then this misunderstanding will be cleared. The correct meaning of the shloka regarding righteousness and unrighteousness is as under-

“YADA YADA HI DHARMASYA GALANIRBHAVTI BHARAT,

ABHUTHANAMDHARMASYA TADAATMAANAM SRIJAMYAAHAM”

Meaning: – Oh! Arjun, belonging to clan of Bharatvanshis as and when harm is done to the religion or righteousness of the society and injustice, unrighteousness propagates all over, it is then that I create atma (take body). This is the meaning based only on wordings (literal meaning) but the secret of the shloka is –

Idea:- according to Rigveda mantra 10/129/7, God is the lord/master of Prakriti and souls. Yajurveda mantra 40/8 states God is pure and away from sins. Hence, no Yog maya or illusion can overpower God to force Him to take Avtar and then to suffer sorrows or enjoy happiness like ordinary human beings. Hence, God can never become soul and vice versa; say Vedas.

Yajurveda chapter 31, Atharvaveda kand 19, sukta 6, Samveda mantra 617 to 621 and Rigveda mantras 10/90/1-3 prove that prakriti comprising of three qualities viz Raj, Tam and Satva is non-alive whereas God and souls are alive matters. Moreover, the three matters – alive God, alive souls and non-alive prakriti are eternal.

The given shloka signifies that whenever there is downfall in pious deeds to be done according to vedas and increase in irreligious deeds /sins, which are against Vedas then the idea of the above shloka is this that Sri Krishna Maharaj prays to God that God gives him power to take birth to kill the culprits kauravas because fundamental law of Vedas clearly states that God never takes avtar.

In addition, I would like to tell you that I have written detailed comments on Srimad Bhagwad Geeta (in Hindi) including chapter 1-12 worth Rs.400/- excluding postal charges If you desire, the book can be sent to you on receipt of your postal address.
